"He's a communist sympathizer like Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden," said Ky Ngo, 51, a longtime Republican activist in Orange County. "We lost the country because of him. He helped the Communists when he spoke very badly about the war. He slandered our soldiers." -- Little Saigon cool to Kerry

I saw Stolen Honor yesterday. It is devastating in its simplicity. None of the information surprised me.

My review is short and simple, as well. Veterans including POW survivors are interviewed. They tell how their situation was made worse in the camps and at home by a press that believed John Kerry's outright lies. Each of them in his own way denies that the My Lai or Apocalypse Now Vietnams portrayed in the MSM were typical or tolerated by the rank and file. Each of them in his own way points out that their country asked them to make the ultimate sacrifice and John Kerry tried to destroy their honor. Due to quips by prison guards and the sightings of people like Jane Fonda in their camps, the POWs came to realize that John Kerry (by name) was having a serious impact on their safety and pushing back their release dates.

Only once does an interviewee (George Day) suggest that Kerry was treasonous. A transcript of unknown quality is here: dailykos.com.

The restrained and disciplined approach to the topic made me realize that the average *BS treatment of Kerry's past is far more propagandistic.

After I finished watching it I had questions that probably can't be answered except by time. I think the massive push to disarm America has one deep root in this story. Rather than fear the men who would have given it all for America, shouldn't we fear the ones who distorted and denied their gift of honor to us?

Producer Carlton Sherwood says:

They don't want a belated apology. They want John Kerry to be finally accountable for his disgrace [?], the harm he inflicted on an entire generation of good soldiers. Simply put, they want the truth, not parades or a hero worship. Just the plain truth, and their dignity and honour restored.

According to Disinfopedia, Sherwood has compromised his credibility with a report on the Moonies called Inquisition: The Persecution and Prosecution of the Reverend Sun Myung Moon. But we can still take Stolen Honor at face value. Kerry called our POWs war criminals and their captors beat them, starved them, and held them longer while hurling quotes from the Winter Soldier campaign at them. We're free to draw our own conclusions, no matter what Sherwood thinks about a ripoff religious cult from Korea.

By the way, a quick survey of blog commentary on Stolen Honor reveals a curious urge to deny its veracity. However, the film focusses on factual commentary Kerry and the VVA offered with the Winter Soldier tour and their "limited incursion into the territory of Congress."

Regardless of what one thinks about the Vietnam war, Kerry's actions were what they were. No amount of blogspin can change that.

The urge to put Stolen Honor on a level with Michael Moore's Farenheit 911 is just another attempt to spin Vietnam veterans out of listening range of the American people. Hasn't that been the domestic communist agenda since 1966? Dishonoring the troops was the only way the communists could get the American people to withdraw their support for the war.

And it worked. It also partnered the MSM with our worst enemies, a role they have relished ever since Walter Cronkite declared that the Tet offensive was a success for the VC. Today if Michael Moore's F911 is on par with Stolen Honor as he would have us believe, and the MSM continues to suggest, the American people must simply give up on the press and popular media as a source for truth.

I think Little Saigon is Garden Grove. Do they have a pho restaurant by the name of Pho Hoa; I understand there is such a restaurant on the Left Coast and I assumed it would be in Garden Grove.

If you go there, order pho bo chin (beef soup with beef cooked), then add pepper sauces (a bit of each of them), squeeze a slice of lime to add the juice, then add some bean sprouts. Great stuff. I eat that in Saigon, the bill for my girlfriend and me is typically about $2.50 total.

Actually the Vietnamese-Americans, at least those in the Garden Grove Union High School District, have been paying a lot more attention to "Business" lately than to Gov. ARNOLD...

...as this particular School District just received a $500,000 1st Prize Award as the Most Improved High School District in the entire United States of America..!!!

...Vietnamese-Americans sit on the Garden Grove Union High School District School Board with more coming, some teach there and there is a bunch of very productive High School Students in Attendence there.

Vietnam's "Re-Education" Prison Camps installed after the war in order to persecute the once Free South Vietnamese were tantamount to Cambodia's Killing Fields.

Someone needs to get their hands on the books written by "Madame" Nguyen Thi Binh about the Paris peace talks period, and to see if any mention is ever made of J. Kerry. He's silent about his collaboration with the communists. Perhaps, however, the communists weren't? Perhaps Madame Binh or someone else has described "an earnest young comrade from Amerika who came three times to Paris to exchange lists of names, US military plans, etc..." There may very well be something of that sort out there.

Here's one book: Mat tran dan toc giai phong Chinh phu cach mang lam thoi tai Hoi nghi Paris ve Viet Nam: hoi uc. Hanoi: Chinh tri quoc gia, 2001. 688 pp.

It may require someone with friends in Vietnam to get this book(s) from Vietnam, or maybe some are available here (doubt it, unless there are Vietnamese pro-communist book stores here). Regardless, Vietnamese language skills are needed.

I think that with some FedEx use, scanners and the Internet, there's still lots of time available to make public anything the communists have written about their encounters and cooperation with John Kerry.

As usual, Ronnie, thank you MUCH for the ping!
"FBI files reveal that Kerry planned a third such trip together with [VVAW leader Al] Hubbard for November [1971]. But, as it turned out, Hubbard went without Kerry, perhaps because the two had by then fallen out over revelations that Hubbard's repeated claims to have been an officer and a Vietnam vet were fabricated." -- last paragraph of Carl Limbacher's article above.

Thanks - That's excellent stuff coming out now about Kerry lying about having made two trips, lying about a honeymoon reason for being in Paris, etc.

The clincher, however, and what would seal the deal for voters who can't quite see the treason in Kerry's Paris trips, however many he had, is the matter of what Kerry said in those meetings.

We know that blow-hard JK would never have just sat passively mute in those Paris hotel rooms, silently taking notes about the VC and the North's various demands. His ego would never have allowed it. No, John F. Kerry wasn't going to fly across the Atlantic, twice, just to be a mere note-taker. He undoubtedly told his communist hosts at some length, about all HE was doing to further their common cause, about how HE, JFK, was also thwarting US efforts on the battlefield and in the arena of public opinion. Perhaps to ingratiate himself with his hosts, he even provided some details of US military tactics or strategy.

Perhaps. There are likely only three parties that know for sure:

1. John Kerry
2. His Vietnamese communist hosts
3. The French Government

Parties one and two know because they were in the room(s). Party three knows because there is no way the French would have allowed the Vietnamese Communists, The South Vietnamese and the Americans to run around town deciding the fate of the former French Indochina without Paris knowing what was going on. No, the French would have made certain they were kept well abreast of thing. Which is to say, it's pretty safe to assume the Frogs, no strangers to clandestine monitoring, did their best to bug all those meetings and the parties' hotel rooms as well.

At this point, none of the three parties are going to say anything. JK, obviously, has no interest in making public the details of his wartime collaboration with the enemy. The French don't either. Why should they embarrass a presidential candidate, when they hold the goods that would let them OWN a sitting U.S. President? Ditto for the Vietnamese. US President who calls them daddy, or scandal-destroyed failed candidate? Easy choice for Hanoi.

But it's only that party, the Vietnamese communists, who appear to have written at length about their work and dealings in Paris. (Kerry and the French intelligence services certainly haven't). So it's in their writings, particularly in those of Madame Bihn, where one should look for any reference to what John Kerry (or a Kerry-like figure) said and did in those Paris hotel rooms.
