JAX Rally
10/23/04 | twobits

It was awesome said my daughter. There was 50,000. It was the warmest crowd of people. Air Force 1 did a fly by which excited everyone which was so amazing. Daughter states words does not give it justice as to how great it was. Todd's Beamers parents spoke to the crowd prior to the President's arrival. My son and grandson make it on the big screen during the President's speech. Aaron Tippin played. My granddaughter age 4 was screaming four more years. One of the best posters was Democrats for Bush. The President speech was very positive and upbeat. The gates opened at 10:30 and even though they waited for six hours for the President, nobody complained. My Navy Son said this is truly Bush Country.

It was good to be there. We got back a little over an hour ago. My arms were still vibrating and my ears are still ringing from those noisemakers, lol, which I was banging with great gusto. I even blew one out & had to go for the spare! My voice was in prime shape thanks to just coming out of volleyball season, though now I'm hoarse from all the "Wooohooos" and "Booos!!!!!"

Those nice t shirts we made last night were covered over by the "W" t shirt. So later we made up a "First time voter for Bush" in the sign area, which was shown at the very end on the screen. There were also "Seniors for Bush" signs being held up by high school seniors, which was funny.

Sean Hannity was there, came in and was signing autographs in the area adjacent to where we were sitting. We chanted "Sean Sean!" but he didn't ever speak . . .

Don't ask me about AF1 flyover . . . that's a sore spot. We were dying of hunger at that point and finally gave in to a little overpriced food . . . harder still because now I'm 0 for 2 in missing AF1 flying over.

We REALLY went wild when we saw Laura walk in w/GW, I mean we would have anyway, but I was so very glad to see her there. I was hoping we would, and we did at one point get to chant "Laura! Laura! Laura!"

I had someone take a picture of our family w/Bush in the background to show that GW is behind our family.

Afterwards when we heard 690 AM's news w/cut from the rally, and the crowd yelling back "But you can't hide!", we high fived each other because our voices were in those 45,000 or so. I wanted W to really, really hear us! It was so awesome to be a part of that. We've not seen tv news of it yet.

Like I said, my ears are still ringing, and I have an overwhelming urge to just settle in after a long day. I look forward to seeing the photos.

If you take the stadium and divide it in half, take those in the lower section on one side and put them in the upper section, you would have 40,000. since the lower section is larger, the upper section would have been over flowed.

I am not a rocket scientist, just my best guess. LOL

Anyway it was a huge crowd and we all had a great time.

Yes, that's her. She lives in Jacksonville now. She had me and the black Republicans behind me in tears. It was very emotional for me personally. I have been searching for a transcript but not having much luck. I guess it wasn't that important. Maybe tomorrow's paper or I might have luck when I go up to headquarters on Monday to work. :)

We too are still on a "W" high. Even my 4 year old was cheering. She knows who Bush is and cheered very loud when he came in. You should be proud of your children. I am glad they have a mother who shows them the "right" stuff. LOL.

I am still waiting on more pics

searching for a transcript

I was just getting to my seat as she began her remarks which were based on scripture. She reminded the crowd that the Lord would judge a nation by a gatekeeper, by the one willing to stand in the breach. What was powerful about her words were NOT that she was a GWB supporter, but that she wants to discern what God wants and follow God's leading, and that she believes God wants GWB.

I posted some sarcastic comments earlier this week about what happened in FLA when 2200 Corrine Brown supporters "accidentally" spoiled their ballots by voting Gore-Browne (Browne was the libertarian candidate) instead of Gore-Brown. I think God was in that.

I don't want God on my side...I want to be on God's side. That is my own thought and what I gathered from Kim Alexis remarks...

I also remembered to take plenty of pictures of the "beautiful people" wo were there today. I will post a picture of Charlie, later. He was four years old, but insisted on wearing his suit and tie to see the President. I also loved meeting four year old Chad...he had dimples...

I was there. They said it was the largest crowd of the campaign. My sign said "Boots or Flip-Flops? W '04"

My father's sign said "Goose Hunters for W". All around excellent event.

The side you see is what was behind the Pres., the side we were on was pretty full up to the top of the section. The very top tier was empty. They had police officers up there keeping watch.

What a great account of the rally, Spook! I am so glad that Kim Alexis was there. Kathy Ireland is also a conservative. Sounds like they share some similar values.

Can't wait to see your pictures!

I don't want God on my side...I want to be on God's side. That is my own thought and what I gathered from Kim Alexis remarks...

Amen!

The black woman behind me was in tears saying, "Amen, Amen, Amen, and that girl can PREACH," while Kim was talking.

The bad news is, the pictures on my digital aren't that great and I can't download them without DH by my side and he is sick and won't come help me (waaaa). The good news is, the pictures on my good camera will be great, but I have to wait until tomorrow to develop them. Sigh. I'm frustrated.

We were RIGHT at the entrance where everyone was walking on the field. It was pure luck. The only reason we sat there was because the short, concrete wall would protect us and give us some shade from the sun. LOL Who knew that would be where George, Laura, Jeb, Mel, Sean Hannity, Karl Rove and Karen Hughes were going to be. OMGosh, I can't even describe the emotions. It was so powerful, exciting, overwhelming, and humbling.....Laura looked us straight in the eye and waved at us…TWICE!!!! I'm going to be talking about this for months. ROFL I'm still giddy (but dehydrated...need water).

Dutchgirl, will you get to go work up at headquarters on Beach? We've been once and we're going again this week. Now that my MIL left yesterday, I'll have more time to devote.

Yes. Apparently she is a very conservative Christian. She gave a very nice speech early on with her husband, who owns a Jacksonville Hockey team (in a small Hockey league).

((hugs)) Wish you could have been there with us. It was the 4th best day of my life. LOL (marrying DH and giving birth twice have to come before seeing Bush).
