Well said. Thanks, it is so very true. IQ has little to do with success. It's just a small part of what's needed. Common sense, strong faith, and many other things are needed to have the best chance at success.

amen to that! sad thing is that the longest a true democracy (ok, democratic republic, let's not split hairs) has held together is about 200 years. the golden age of the greeks lasted about 200 years and the same is true of the golden age of rome. then greedy power hungry emperors and conquerors got control. that's what scares me most about the dems.

well, i agree that he is very intelligent, but i would say that his intelligence overhangs his ability to articulate himself. remember too, though, that he speaks from the heart, does not shoot from the hip, but more importantly, as president, he realizes the importance of every word he speaks. he carefully thinks, and sometimes restarts his
sentences, so that the right words come out. i think he has a real respect for the office of president, unlike his predecessor who had a knack for very eloquently putting out negative statements to make himself look good.

How do the claims that Bush is stupid gain traction?
1) Bush is a conservative. Conservatives are stupid. Therefore, Bush is stupid.
2) Bush constantly trips over words. People who trip over words are de facto stupid. Unless they're liberals, in which case no verbal gaffe is ever an indication of stupidity (as in Kerry's "people around the globe and elsewhere" or his "Jenjis Khan"), or they have otherwise already proved themselves as geniuses in another fashion, in which case, they merely have a problem with tripping over words.
The best thing I can say about my mensa experance is that i am a'lapsed membership' member.....lol

I am a few years younger than Bush. My SAT was 1284 in 1967. This was a very nice score--in the 90+ percentile---but hardly outstanding. I graduated with about a 3.2 average.
I attended a midwestern HS and my father was a successful professional.
I had many advantages and feel I made the most of my education. I was also very interested in music.
My SAT was higher than Bush's, but I am no 130 IQ.
I just had lots of opportunities to read, study and travel.
Bush is no moron, but neither is he terribly scholarly.
Those are nice scores, but for someone with his opportunities they are nothing extraordinary.
I agree that Bush knows how to get and keep power. I think he has intelligent people around him, but if he were more widely read he might be more inclined to lissen to more different kinds of opinions.
I think he makes up his mind on limited evidence sometimes.
