Former Roe of Roe v. Wade Abortion Case Endorses President Bush

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The woman whose fictitious name helped usher in an era of legal abortion changed her mind ten years ago and says she regrets the small part she played in helping make abortion legal.

Now, she's made up her mind about a presidential candidate -- because she hopes the key court case will someday be overturned.

Norma McCorvey, the former plaintiff in the Supreme Court's Roe vs. Wade decision, has endorsed President Bush in his re-election bid.

"This year I am going to vote to re-elect President Bush, because he is committed to the cause of life and wants our nation to make room to welcome and protect every unborn child," McCorvey said.

"Unless we do that, we can never have a world of social justice," the former Jane Roe added. "I urge all my pro-life friends to likewise vote for the President."

McCorvey became a Christian in 1995 and renounced her part in the Roe v. Wade decision. She now heads up Roe No More, an organization dedicated to overturning the landmark case.

Father Frank Pavone is the priest who facilitated McCorvey's conversion to Catholicism in 1998. He told LifeNews.com, speaking on behalf of himself and not Priests for Life, that he applauds McCorvey's endorsement and urges pro-life voters to follow her lead.

"If re-elected, [President Bush] will be able to nominate some of the very justices who would be willing to overturn Roe vs. Wade," Pavone said.

"As the priest who confirmed Norma in the Catholic Church, let me also say how offended she is that John Kerry, a so-called Catholic, has vowed only to nominate to the federal bench those who support the Roe vs. Wade decision," Pavone explained.

In September, a three judge appeals court panel dismissed a lawsuit McCorvey filed to overturn the Roe v. Wade decision. In her lawsuit, she pointed to new information the court did not have showing how abortion hurts women physically and emotionally.

Thousands of women who had abortions and regret their decisions signed affidavits submitted in the lawsuit. They say if they had more information about fetal development and abortion's risks and dangers they likely would have chosen not to have an abortion.

The lawsuit is expected to be appealed to the Supreme Court.

Very proverbial. I'll bet the pro-abortion crowd hates hearing this.

This, the legal slaughter of innocent babies, is the real reason liberal women despise W.
They fear he'll appoint judges, especially to the SCOTUS, that will overturn this dark blotch on America's soul.

At the risk of repeating myself (you tend to do that in old age!) I still find it remarkable that people who think nothing of taking a human life and ripping it from the womb are very often the same folks who won't wear a fur coat because some damn rodent died!
