If Cable or Network TV Falsely Report All Polls in Fla. Are Closed at 7 PM EST, the Committee for Honest Politics Will Sue

WASHINGTON, Oct. 28 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following was released today by the Committee for Honest Politics:

In the Presidential Election of 2000 all of the national television networks falsely reported that all polling places in Florida were closed almost a full hour before the polls actually closed in the Panhandle of Florida.

On the day before the 2002 elections, a group of Florida voters who believed the media reports that the polls were closed, and therefore did not vote, sued Voters News Service, the Associated Press, ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, and NBC in Federal Court in Pensacola, Florida.

Please be advised that the Committee for Honest Politics will be closely monitoring and recording all significant news coverage on November 2, 2004.

If there is any instance of reporting a polling place closed, when it is in fact open, then on November 3, 2004 a lawsuit will be instituted against the person or persons making the false report, individually, and against such person's employer.

We urge all news media personnel to be aware of their duty to individual voters and of the consequences of obstructing the electoral process or abridging the individual right to vote.

Between now and the time the polls close on Tuesday there will be a lot of phony reporting. Lots of lies from the MSM to try to get people to vote against Bush (note that it is nearly impossible to get people to vote FOR Kerry who aren't already going to do so) will hit the papers and airwaves. Be sure to check back with your trusty truth detector on the blogs.

If I were the the News media, I would not report on any results until all state polling is in and has been recorded. Of course, the MSM will do everything they can to cheat and lie in John Kerry's favor!!! I urge every voter to totally disregard anything the MSM says, and continue to vote until the polls officially close in their respective states!!!

Didn't the Sec of State of Florida issue just such a warning before the 2000 election?

In fact the movie Celsius 41.11 makes the point that all the major networks calling Fla for Gore not only depressed Bush voters in the panhandle of Florida but all across the nation, which explains how Gore probably went ahead in the popular vore.

There were 5 0r 6 states where the voting was very close and this is most likely the reason Bush fell off nationally.

After all we were told for weeks it was all about Florida Florida Florida.

My bet is they'll try to do it again, they do have a pool of 10,000 lawyers to protect their free speech. We were wrong, oh too bad sorry, yea right.

The movie contains that famous line from Danny boy Rather, "If you hear it here you can take it to the bank".LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

The networks don't have to report results or do anything like mis-state the closing time of the polls in order to do their dirty work. All they need is to go to "Sam in Florida" or "Sally in Cleveland" and have them say something along the lines of, "Dan, a real upset is brewing here, lots of happy faces in some places that weren't happy in 2000." They are tricky and devious and know their business. Don't trust anyone you hear on TV or radio until the results are clear-cut.

What was the outcome of these lawsuits? That would be usefull to know.

Exactly. I'm guessing you work in the media. News vets. know how to get their message across without explicitly using declaritive statements.

When do the polls close in Hawaii?

I don't expect the election to be close, but imagine if the electoral vote appears to be tied, and the decision is made by Hawaii.

I read on here a couple wks ago that they believe kerry has such a friend in dan rather, that cbs will call it for him as early as he possibly can and then kerry will go into full lying mode, pretending he's presiden-elect and appoint his cabinet, etc.

We need to see the evidence of every such violation and of every such law suit. This data must be built into the campaigns to have the licenses of affiliate stations turned over to folks who respect the 1st Amedment.

We must build an organization/mechanism to oppose EVERY license extension petition of every one of these left wing extremist license holders. We already have the forgeries that Rather/CBS created/used and the ABC memo as rock hard proof.

This would be a great opportunities to get some black conservatives into the local TV business!
