The 38th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company should have detailed records about what was destroyed and when it took place. Someone needs to start digging through unit history files.

He is clearly not media savvy, probably never had any
exposure to reporters but I don't really see how putting
him out there helped us any.

Max would have been in the thick of it, if those he was guarding had not abdicated their duty. Or, he might have been in West Germany, or stationed at Fort Leavenworth. It does not matter.

If he, or someone like him was not guarding them, who knows what harm they may have caused. EVERY person doing their duty in time of war served equally. The RISK isn't equal, but the DUTY & SERVICE are, and every job necessary to the total effort.

I hope someone can explain it to him properly, so he gets the benefits he earned, while maintaining his pride.

Prayers for his recovery.

This guy at the UN is very bad. I think we've been trying to block his continuing in this post.

Yes - he wants to try for a third term, but Bush is opposed. One reason is that he seems bent on making his own rules and there have been more violations on his watch than Kerry has nuances...

That's another point. RDX and HMX in powdered form isn't even dangerous. It has to be further processed to make it into dangerous stuff, mixed with binders etc. it's useless to the average dumb uneducated terrorist. That's why they use munitions to make their ied's, the explosive is formed and fused.

This is one more reason why we had to go into Iraq. The UN is not only incompetent but it's evil.

wow! i had not heard this set of details before. peronsally i think it is time for the un to rethink its mission. i am afraid that without two superpowers, the un has a new unstated mission and purpose. i believe the un is trying to undermine the united states -- and i will leave to you and others to judge their competence in carrying out their new mission and purpose.

Who cares if he is "media savvy" - HE DESTROYED 250 TONS OF MUNITIONS AT THE SITE IN QUESTION INCLUDING PLASTIC EXPLOSIVES. You sure you're actually supporting Bush? You seem to be trying pretty hard to put the worst spin on things.

Cheney is on Rush now.

He's pointing out that of this 377 tons the NYT said was there, a big chunk of that was shown by the IAEA's own records to never have been there. It just goes to show how desperate the left wing media and Kerry are to tell lies like this to sway the election.

Can the Major say or not say..."we removed All the munitions at Al Quaqua"? Why is that so difficult to say? Was there anything left to loot?

----

Because that's an impossible question to answer. It's an unfair question. You cant prove a negative. You cant "prove" there is nothing left there, you can only state that you searched thoroughly and destroyed all you found.

Journalists might like to state speculation as fact, but this man would only state fact as fact.

I think the key question is whether the answer to the question "is this the HMX that was under seal?" is "yes" 'no' or 'maybe'.

There was 250 tons of HMX and RDX at the facility.
If they destroyed 240 tons of explosives, and what they destroyed was HMX, they got the cache that IAEA was talking about.

END OF STORY.

PS. He destroyed 7,000 tons ... just once unit did this - it shows what a big NON-STORY this is.

Soooo, how do they know it was 377 tons if it was not there? "

They are wrong to cite 377 tons ... it was only 240 tons (or 200 metrics tons), since IAEA found only 3 tons of RDX in Jan 2003. Saddam had moved the other RDX.

There's another discrepancy ... I was under the assumption this was in dry form ... maybe I was wrong, this was 'wetted'?

Kerry and Edwards have been saying Bush didnt do his job because he didnt order the troops to safeguard this specific site... it's their whole "not enough troop, quagmire" trying to make the whole Iraq situation look like a big FUBAR SNAFU s**tstorm, and blame Bush for it.

The critique is nonsense and confuses tactical and strategic, but you have to understand - if things go well, Presidents get credit - if they don't, Presidents get hurt.

Kerry is a terrible candidate who would be worse for america for a broad range of reasons. His only hope is to drive despair gloom and negativity up so people 'fire' Bush without looking at the alternative. Kerry's only ope is bashing Bush and getting MSM on board to support him.

My favorite questions to the DoD: "Is it Vietnam yet?" (paraphrased)
"Secty Rumsfeld, can you tell us when the war will end?"
