The only reason he would ever say something like this before an election would be to galvanize his mod-lib constituency. I think he's about 300 years old so this is probably his last term. I wonder if he will be a little easier on W's appointee's when he doesnt have a PA reelection to worry about?
Oh yes he will. Too bad Toomey didn't beat him.
To all the RINO's here who supported this jerk over Toomey-- thanks alot

I was a little angry about the Repubs not backing Twomey.
Well I live in NJ and I for one hope they get the shaft next year, serves them right.
Specter is an asshole, pure and simple. He's an embarrassment to Philadelphia (and that's really going some!) and his wife is ... oh, why bother.
I was rooting for Toomey in the primary but apparently Arlen was able to sell himself to enough people to be running against Hoeffel, who I positively despise. There will be enough good news on Tuesday to make up for all this anguish.
We gave money and supported Pat Toomey, to no avail. I'll vote for Clymer and hope that if sphincter does get elected, the margin will be so small, that the Senate leaders will get the message and send him to the cloakroom.

magic bullet RINO at that
I've been saying for months now, ever since that worthless RINO Specter beat Pat Toomey in the Senate primary, that is it was clear right before the election that the GOP would have at least 52 Senate seats even if Hoeffel loses, that I would be pulling for Specter to lose so that Jon Kyl becomes Judiciary Chairman; the way I see it, I'd rather have a Senate with 52 Republicans and Kyl as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee than one with 53 Republicans and Specter as Chairman blocking conservative judicial nominees. Well guess what? We're definitely going to pick up Senate seats in GA, SC and NC, and will probably pick up seats in LA, FL and SD, and I think we will hold all GOP seats except for IL, so we should end up with 56 GOP Senators if Specter wins. Thus, we don't need that worthless RINO blocking President Bush's judicial nominees and I call upon all PA conservatives to vote for Mr. Clymer on Tuesday. While principled conservatives voting for Clymer instead of Hoeffel may allow Specter to win, it avoids the unimaginable decision to cast a vote for a liberal extremist such as Hoeffel, and it will show Specter and the rest of the RINOs that they can't take conservatives for granted. If the Senate balance was going to be close, I would hold my nose and support Specter because President Bush needs a Republican majority in the Senate, but thankfully we can say "good riddance to bad rubbish" and send Specter packing.
"I only hope the national leadership has the stones to tell Specter he can't have Judiciary. Past performance is a strong indication that they won't."
To all those who claimed Specter was a better candidate than Toomey, don't say you weren't warned.
we tried but the kool-aid drinkers wouldn't let us
We HAD a young, healthy, CONSERVATIVE, who almost pulled out an upset, in Pat Toomey. But no...the Pubbies (who I think can't see the forest for the trees or Arlen really has dirt on alot of them) don't break ranks at all and blindly support McSpector...the Borkmeister, the abortionists' best friend, oh I could go on, but I will just get flamed again...
Rather than write in Pat...I am now pro-Clymer. Will split my ticket to vote AGAINST Spector.
And you think Arlen will keep his word ? You don't know Arlen too well.
If I come to believe that this is true, I'm breaking my pledge and voting for Clymer.
