This poll is total crap:

Kerry leading with men 47-45, Bush leading by 1 with women

But didn't someone tell me that the last Fox poll should be regarded as really reliable? When's that one? Is this it?

I'll say again: I pray God gives America what we need in a leader (between the two), not what we deserve.

Skepticism is in order about his poll. I really think Bush has a five point lead, of likely voters.

I think Fox is simply throwing us a Halloween scare ;)

Weekend polling favors Democrats. Nothing surprising here and
no big changes either.

A couple of this to consider:

1) As have been made clear here on FR, Republicans always poll worse on the weekends.

2) Fox News/Opinion Dynamics is on a 2 day rolling average making it more volatile. A spike on a one day will make large swings in the poll.

3) Interesting enough this poll is showing a ceiling that Kerry doesn't seem to be able to get over. Kerry so far hasn't got above 46.

the poll had Bush ahead by 1% with women and behind 1% with men...really - do you expect Bush to LOSE among men? not gonna happen - he'll win men by 10-15 points nationwide

This may be the final nail in FNC's coffin, I'm not buying any of this. I have often said that right near the end all of the MSM polls tend to show a virtual horse race, I don't believe it, our lead did not evaporate just like that, this is MSM desperate for attention.

PEOPLE,

Polls are score keeping, not score deciding.

I am working phone banks in Reno this weekend. I am a Utah resident and flew here. This is not intended to be admirable because There Are People Here From Texas who did the same thing. The Texas Strike Force has 1500 willing to volunteer. They divided themselves among the ten battlegrounds.

Phone banks are VERY HARD WORK, and maybe too much to ask of Freepers, who prefer to celebrate our progress online. But if you think you are tough enough to endure some hangups and even some "Yeah, we already voted Bush and I'm really glad you're working hard for him, where are you from and why are you supporting him?"

That's the hard part. Forcing yourself not to celebrate with the early voter supporters. They Eat Time. You have to keep calling. It's about numbers.

Anyway, if you think you're tough enough, get into a battlegound phone banks today and tomorrow. Have to drive 100 miles? Oh, okay, I guess that's too difficult. All you have to do is look online for a county campaign headquarters, call them and ask to volunteer. They will say yes. Get in your car and drive there, sit down, pick up a cellphone sitting there and start calling from the list.

Damn people. We really need to get out the vote. Lose the overconfidence already, everyone. The poll numbers are sliding and the EVs don't look good. Factor in the fraud and we're surely going to lose this election.

I just bopped over to tradesports.com to see what the gamblers are saying..Bush up in Minnisota to 38.5, OH to 52.9, and +300 EV to 28, and popular vote to 56 (+2.8 on the session)

Poor daschle is down 3.3 to 38.2. Ha HA Tommie, better put some ice on that.

Its 270 votes and polls in about ten States that count. These national polls tell you nothing 48 hours before a Presidential election.
W has about 235. He needs 35 EV's. That is something to obsess over.

The media, FNC included, has a vested interest in showing a tight race right up to the election. It would not surprise me in the least to see liberal outlets touting Bush ahead, and conversely conservative outlets showing Kerry ahead, just to keep their viewers tuned in. In order to show accuracy for the next election cycle, the media will show their polls converging today and tomorrow, with a 3-5% victory for Bush. IMHO.

Relax and wait.

As much as I like Fox (well most of the time) I never really thought Opinion Dynamics was that great of a poll. They usually are pretty off.
I believe some of the long time posters say to keep on eye on Gallup, Mason Dixon-and I forget the other two. So if those come out today not good, then we can maybe go into chicken little mode. Remember Mason-Dixon had some good numbers last night.

All of this is within the margin of error. Unless you see a 4 or 5 point swing, it doesn't mean anything. Secondly, at this point, the national polls don't mean much. It's what's going on in the battleground states that matters now. From just a common sense perspective, I can't believe that Bush's numbers went down over the last two days. People, for the most part, have already made up their minds.
