Needed: Succinct rebuttals to liberal claims
FreeRepublic | November 1, 2004 | All of us

Posted on 10/31/2004 7:14:44 PM PST by wai-ming

I'm tired of trying to refute liberals' claims against George Bush and the U.S. with discussions based on logic. They don't listen.

We need a list of quick and easy one-liners that can get to the core of the issue and silence the liberals, or at least give them something to think about.

Here are a few liberalisms (in quotes) with a one-line rebuttal to each. Please add yours to the list.

"Bush started this war."

No, the terrorists did.

"It's like Japan attacked America, and then America attacked Mexico."

No, it's like Japan attacked the U.S., and the U.S. attacked Japan and Germany.

"Kerry will only tax the rich."

Consider yourself rich.
(Kerry thinks you are rich but he isn't.)

"Kerry is a war hero."

That's what the Communists in Vietnam are saying.

"It's my right to vote."

You have a right to vote one time, in one place, and only for yourself.

"kerry will only tax the rich"

Kerry and his wife ARE rich and pay about a 12% to 15% tax rate.

Why does he pay a smaller percentage than someone making $60,000 a year????

(And Benedict Arnold actually really was a war hero)

"silence the liberals"

Surely you jest... Silence liberals? All they are is talk.
You can't hope to silence them, the best you can hope is to shame them, bud don't count on that either.

Just make sure you outvote them!!.

When the "tax-cuts for the rich" thing comes up, what I usually say is, "Whether you like it or not, the fact is, IT'S THEIR MONEY. It's a refund of THEIR MONEY. They earned it; it's theirs. Who are you to say that they earned 'too much'"?

If they show even a moment's hesitation, I follow it up with a series of questions. How much is "too much?" Says who? Why? Where did you get the right to point at other people and say, "I'm offended by how much you earn. I want to take it from you."?

No, it's like Japan attacked the U.S., and the U.S. attacked Japan and Germany.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
When this one comes up, remind the liberal that after Japan attacked America, the first country that America attacked was Morroco beginning the North African campaign. Our enemies then and now were alliances that had weaknesses to be exploited. That's strategerie.
Actually if you let a liberal talk long enough, you can easily get them to make a false or uterly stupid comment; since most of their comments are not based on logic or truth to begin with. Then you can look at them with pity give a little laugh and say, "I hope you don't truly believe that." They will either shut up, or start shouting even more ludicrous statements that will make even the most die hard liberal walk away in embarrasment. It's really great to do in a place like a College Library where they are supposed to keep their voices down. Get's em barred from the Library for a while. HEHE
On Arguing With Our Dear Friends on the Left:
I have spent much of my free time at other sites, more left-leaning than centrist, but where I have some respect and some decent relations.
I have been arguing with them non-stop.
it is crazy-making.
here's a (close) parody of how it goes:
Leftist: Dell makes great buses!
Me: Buses? Um, last I checked, Dell doesn't manufacture buses or any other of their subcomponents - they purchase all of that from subcontractors and then assemble a damn good computer...
L: Computers? Man, you are ignorant! Everyone knows Dell makes buses. You know, the things people ride around in? It must hurt to be as dumb as you...
Me: Buses... o-o-o-o-kayyy, look: Dell Inc makes home and business computers. They make no conveyances of any sort.
L: You just can't tolerate a different opinion.
Me: this has nothing to do with tolerance. An opinion contradicted by facts is worthless.
L: You don't have any facts, and CBS says...
Me: Look, pal, try to do a little fact-checking. Here - go to this website, yeah, that's right, DELL INC's official website and get the facts straight from the source...
L: That doesn't prove anything!
Me: It proves Dell makes computers...
L: But they also make buses
Me: Holy cripes. Don't you think they'd have buses listed in their catalog if they made 'em?!? Geesh! How about you contact Dell and ask THEM if they make buses?
L: You are a mean person!
Me: No, I'm just stating facts.
L: Not only are you a mean intolerant person, but I know that XP-windows on Dell buses have superior diopter and clarity, making the scenery o so lovely as you ride along...
Me: oh, dear lord...
I'm not kidding - arguing with Leftists is just like this.
All you get is "well, we aren't going to change each other's minds so let's let it go".
My brother-in-law. So-called intellectual and writer of myriad books, some of which have been bestsellers internationally, said the above to me when I bested him in an on-line debate. They can't and won't listen to logic (hello DU). FIND ME ONE LIBERAL OTHER THAN ALAN COLMES (sp?) WHO WILL ENGAGE IN DEBATE WITH A CONSERVATIVE. I am ready willing and able to debate that person.
He/she doesn't exist. Why do you think people like Hillary never go on talk shows?
Help needed ASAP
Can someone please point me to a thread that debunks the "Bush got illegally selected as president" canard.
Any references to problems with the absentee military votes in Florida during 2000 would also be helpful.
"Kerry will only tax the rich"
You can't tax the rich. In a capitalist economy (which history proves is the only one that works) the "rich" control wages and prices (you may not like that, but it's better than government control of wages and prices).
So... if you tax the rich, the wages you get go down, and the prices you pay go up.
So... A tax on the rich is paid by you.
So... A tax on the rich is a tax on you.
In 1993 Kerry cast the deciding vote in favor of the largest tax increase in United States History. He taxed EVERYONE! Their paychecks, their gasoline, their Social Security. And he says it was his proudest moment in the Senate. Actions speak louder than words
If Kerry wins, I am telling my liberal friends that I am happy for them because that's what they wanted.
Then, in a few months, when they start complaining about how there isn't world peace, etc., I'm going to tell them that I'm happy for them because this is what they wanted.
Then when they notice that the body count is higher than Bush's, I am going to tell them that I'm happy for them because this is what they wanted.
When they say that this is not blood on Kerry's hands but a war that Bush started, I will remind them that the blood is on Kerry's hands because this is no longer Bush's war--it will be Kerry's "plan". And I am happy for them because this is the "plan" they voted for.
