Kerry: "Let's Walk in the Footsteps of the Lord"
Turkish Press ^ | 1 November 2004 | Unknown

Posted on 11/01/2004 3:43:50 AM PST by SkyPilot

DAYTON, Ohio, Oct 31 (AFP) - Democratic nominee John Kerry on Sunday pledged to heal America's "wounds" as he preached to African American worshippers in the crucial swing state of Ohio, two days before the toss-up US election.

Kerry, at the altar of the Shiloh Baptist church, tempered his raw meat political message with lessons from the Bible, to chide the social and economic policies of his opponent, President George W. Bush.

"As the scripture teaches us, those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength and they will soar on wings like eagles and they will run and not grow weary and they will walk and not grow faint," Kerry said whipping up cheers from the congregation.

"That's what we are going to do over these next two days and once we have done that job, for the next four years we are going to work out what we need to do to heal the wounds of this country, to be one America," Kerry said.

"We are going to get this done, let's make it happen, let's walk in the footsteps of the Lord."

Kerry implied that Bush's policies on health care, unemployment benefits and overtime pay, did not square with the president's overt Christianity and preference for faith-based social services.

Before arriving at the Baptist church, Kerry took communion at a Dayton Roman Catholic church.

While most worshippers applauded him, one unidentified woman stood up, collected her husband and walked out, muttering, "I won't spend a moment with that man," testimony to the divisions cleaving America before the election.

Kerry fired up his campaign Sunday for a last 48-hour dash through the battlegrounds of his bitter, polarising wrestle for the White House with Bush.

His appearance in church fit with his strategy of pressing for a high turnout among African Americans who vote overwhelmingly Democratic, but according to some evidence have yet to be inspired by his campaign.

Kerry's schedule next took him to New Hampshire, another battleground state, before he was due to make his last stand in Florida, which as in the besmirched 2000 election, could dictate the destiny of the White House.

Kerry was to stump on election eve Monday in Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.

What Kerry thinks are the footsteps of the Lord is a well worn path to Hell that has been trod for eternity by those who refuse to humble themselves before God. I pray he is able to see the truth before it is too late.

When I heard that clip on the radio news yesterday afternoon - "let's walk in the footsteps of the Lord" I about yanked the wheel off of the interstate. You could probably do a Google search and find few references to our Lord and Kerry in the same breath - except when it is at his convenience.

Does anybody know if the woman and her husband who left in a huff were at the Catholic Church or the Baptist Church? It's unclear from the article. I don't see why they'd be applauding Kerry in a Catholic Mass. And since that is the sentence right before, I think the incident may be from the Black Chruch. If it happened at the Baptist Church Kerry's in big trouble.

"As the scripture teaches us, those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength and they will soar on wings like eagles and they will run and not grow weary and they will walk and not grow faint," Kerry said whipping up cheers from the congregation.

I wish he would actually adhere to Scripture, rather than using it for cheap politics.

It makes me cringe to hear him using Scripture. He is a political opportunist - and the whole of Scripture does not back his candidacy.

Here's a few Scriptures for you John:

Proverbs 12:19
The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

Proverbs 17:20
A man of perverse heart does not prosper; he whose tongue is deceitful falls into trouble.

Psalm 119:113
I hate double-minded men, but I love your law.

Proverbs 14:9
Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

Jude 1
17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

Galatians 6:7
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Yet undetermined is the over/under line on the number of months before he shows up with a beard and a gut shrieking "He betrayed this country. He played on our fears"

John Edwards will be preying on his next batch of personal injury liability clients.

Terry McAuliffe will be the night manager at the Clintigula Presidential Library and Message Parlour.

Bush vs. Kerry

Humility vs. Pretense

Boy, this guy's got a couple of big brass ones when it comes to trying to stand on the same level as the Almighty.

He's going to pay for that. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but he will pay.

I don't think he will change his path. He has too much pride - just as Lucifer has. Gore has the same problem. He won't change. Neither will Carter ... oh heck it's the religion of the Demoncrats to Scripture twist and advocate evil. via the Humanist Manifesto.

Y'know, I'm a Christian, and I do read the Bible alot.

I can't find one single place where Jesus said to take money from working folks by threat of force to give it to the poor.

On the other hand, I do find Judas' Iscariot's concern for the poor rather interesting in light of that of the Democrats.

I actually heard some of this speech broadcast live on the radio Sunday.

A few more tidbits:

He whined about a "half-million children cut from < some gov't program I don't remember >". -- He said nothing about children cut from their mother's wombs.

He rambled on about feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, the line about "Whatsoever ye do for the least of these among you, ye shall do for Me" (with apologies to those who actually know the proper wording of the passage). -- He apparently did not grasp the irony that grinding up the unborn would then imply grinding up the Lord.

Those are the two "high" < /sarcasm> points I recall.

I've been praying Galatians 6:7 (Be not deceived, God is not mocked) for the last few weeks, ever since Kerry decided he was a big Christian and would go to the churches to campaign.

At this point, I'm actually happy he's doing this, because I think God will get him big time for invoking His Name as a political prop.

As others have mentioned, how can Kerry claim to be a follower of the Lord when he advocates abortion, partial-birth abortion, gay relationships, and deserting his fellow soldiers? And he is not into reconciliation, as he couldn't even apologize to them for his actions at this late date. I also resent Kerry for deserting his suicidal (first) wife. God hates divorce, but especially when the man deserts his wife as Kerry did.

Actually, desertion seems to be a theme that prevails in Kerry's life. What a horrible trait for someone seeking the office of POTUS.
