While on the face it appears to be a case of the writer missing an obvious cause and effect, I think this may be a poorly worded headline. They possibly meant illegal possession of guns. I can't imagine even a liberal rag missing such a glaring cause and effect relationship.

Talk about overlooking the obvious.

Since "The Constitution protects the minority against the majority," we should look forward to additional constitutional rights if Kerry-Edwards is elected.

More Guns, Less Crime - as John R. Lott Jr. would say.

This headline is akin to the one a few years ago that completely befuddled the liberals leftists.

Crime Rates Fall As Prison Population Rises
Is There A Connection?

(paraphrasing)

Cognitive dissonance.

Some people will never get it.

Here's a little nugget the gun grabbers will never allow their sheep to know and understand.

The national crime rate, under the Bush administration, has never ever, ever, ever been lower.

Bush is to be congratulated and applauded for setting the bar for future administrations to follow on lowering the crime rate.

Notice it's also "possession" and not "ownership."

Good catch. This headline is becoming less funny and more infuriating to me the more I think about it.

"Imagine" it? It happens so often I long ago came to expect it.

Does anyone remember this thigh-slapper from last year?

Crime statistics drop, but prison inmate population is rising.

I suspect that the sun rose this morning, but I couldn't be sure until there was enough light to see whether it was true. It could have been hiding in the dark. I like jello.

I know all of this because I am a Democrat.

I wait to be told what to think each morning.

I trust my instincts, once they are carefully explained to me.

I live a blissful life, unencumbered on the road by concerns about that steamroller approaching from behind. Because I learned when I was young that if I hold my hands in front of my eyes like this- that no one can see me.

A man came to my door this morning and told me that I should vote. He explained what that was, and how I should do it. He said that it wouldn't hurt, and that there was a man I should vote for, whom I've never met, but who feels my pain, but certainly -and this is seared in my memory from a few minutes ago- certainly wasn't the one who caused my pain in the early-to-late nineties.

I don't know what any of that meant but he gave me a candy bar and I am happy. So I made the mark he asked on the absentee ballot, and also the one he had that had my mom's name on it. I miss her ever since she passed away.

I need to go to work now. The newspaper boss gets mad if we're late.

I like jello.

Do you have a dog, too?
