THE mother of a 16-year-old suicide bomber who killed three people in Tel Aviv was in tears today as she asked: "Why did they choose my boy?"
"My son was very young, he was just a child," said 45-year-old Samira Abdallah.
"Why did they choose him?"
The military wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) named Amer al-Far as its "martyr", making him the youngest suicide bomber since the September 2000 outbreak of the Palestinian uprising.
The young Palestinian, from the Askar refugee camp in Nablus on the West Bank, blew himself up and killed three other people in an open-air food market in the heart of Israel's commercial capital.
Thirty-five other people were injured.
"I don't believe it, I haven't been properly informed!" cried his distraught mother.
"But if it's true, Amer was only a child. He was born on June 6, 1988 and was only 16 years and four months old. They could have spared him from this.
"Why didn't they send someone older? We are all ready to sacrifice ourselves for the motherland, but my son was little, he was just a baby."
The boy had for the past week kissed her hand and forehead each day and asked for her to pray for him, she said.
"I thought it was because of the influence of the (Muslim) holy month of Ramadan."
Amer left home without saying where he was headed, said his brother Omar, adding he was still not sure whether to believe the PFLP's claim despite a photograph it produced showing Amer armed with a machine-gun.
Askar residents were helping the family gather their belongings and evacuate their house before the Israeli army arrived to carry out its customary destruction of the homes of perpetrators of deadly anti-Israeli attacks.
Some residents voiced fears of a fallout on the refugee camp at large and a possible army operation, as two masked gunmen fired in the air and told local shops to pull down their shutters in mourning.
The suicide bomber's father, Abdelrahim al-Far, 54, who walks with the help of a stick after being shot in the early days of the intifada against Israeli occupation said he was shocked that his son would never return.
"I was asleep this morning when Amer woke me up. He kissed me and asked for two shekels. He left the house and I went back to sleep," he said.
Palestinian human rights groups have often criticised the recruitment of minors for attacks, while Israel has accused Palestinian militant groups of exploiting children to carry out acts of terror.

O please. I'm to have sympathy for a woman who raised a terrorist who killed 3 innocent people. Maybe in lefty land, but not here.
That said, I have to wonder, what did she teach this boy? When he was growing up, what sort of things did she tell him about Israel, about the Jews?
It's easy for me to sit here and judge, I know, but I'd like to know what this misguided child grew up hearing at home.
Liberals in America go after the children as well. The adults have rejected liberalism, so the liberals need other peoples children to build their army.

Perhaps you might try a religion that is NOT based on hatred, murder, mayhem, misogyny, rape, lying, terror, bloodlust, oppression, slavery, primitive thinking and pedophilia.
While recruitment of those 18 and older is perfectly fine with these "human rights groups."
It seems she doesn't have a problem with suicide bombers if the murderer is older,... say, 18 or so.

Um...because they drug 10 year olds and force them to become homocide bombs...the kids are SO stoned they can't think, can't change their minds...they just stagger in the direction they've been pointed in until they blow up...UNLESS some kind Israel family shoots, diffuses, and gives safe haven to them in their nbomb room until the ambulance comes to take the overdosing kids to a hospital.
