Turnout appeared pretty heavy here in Morgan Hill this AM. The line was longer than I've ever seen. Even though the line moved along quickly, it still took about half an hour versus the typical 10-15 minutes.

Parking lot bumper sticker count: Bush/Cheney - 5 Kerry/Edwards - 1

I have a hot line to FR and will post any newsworthy events on this thread as they occur.

Make sure that none of the poll workers disenfranchise voters by asking for ID, because as you know POLLWORKERS ASKING FOR ID IN CALIFORNIA IS AGAINST THE LAW!!!

Voted in El Cerrito, Ca. at 7 am and good crowd on hand. Lots of little old ladies manning the polls but everyone was well behaved and things seemed to be going smoothly. Not a lot of chatter in the line and no voter intimidation going on. Very "Blue" neighborhood in a very blue area of the state. 3 words of advice for the Man(GWB)come from the inimitable Al Davis..."Just Win, Baby"!!!!!!

Although it is an uphill fight for W here, there is a strong possibility that a new congressional seat for the Fresno-Bakerfield area will go Republican. Any one monitoring that here?

What district. I know the GOP has sank quite a bit of money into Alan Wapner (Ontario City Councilmen) defeating Gloria Negrete McCloud in the 61st which is my district.

25-minute wait to vote this morning. I was on the cell phone in line talking about voter fraud and attacks at GOP HQ. A woman sought me out after voting --- she will be a new FReeper.

Voted this morning at 7:30 am in Oakland and there was a long line of lunatics that cancelled my vote 100 times. When Bush wins these people will be apoplectic.

Voted at 9AM... at Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispana in Montebello.

Bush (or any Republican) will NOT be carrying my precinct, obviously. Then again, with all the Hispanics he's pandering too, maybe he will. But he won't win California. It's for Kerry, 8-12 points I'll predict.

They had six or so "booths" set up, all of them full, and I was the third in line, but it all moved quickly, I didn't spend more than 10 minutes there.

How I voted? From my blog:

PRESIDENT/VICE PRESIDENT: Writing-in Tom Tancredo and Michelle Malkin. Two of the handful of people who I know have a handle on America's illegal alien problem. Bush and Cheney are completely sold out to Mexico, and they've increased spending and the size of government LBJ would be proud of them. And Bush signed that terrible campaign finance "reform" law. And was a wuss on reauthorizing the "assault weapons" ban. I could go on. Sorry guys, you have not earned my support for another four. I know my write-ins have no chance, they're not even running, but I can't support the incumbent Republicans, and I sure as hell am not going to vote Democrat.

U.S. SENATOR: Bill Jones. Or, "the late Bill Jones" as some have come to calling him. it's a shame he will probably lose by 15 or more, because he's a good guy and would make a great senator. Problem is, yes, he's not been able to raise the money to compete against Barbara Boxer. And she ought to be an easy target. Once again, the California Republicans can't figure out what the hell they're doing, and one more good candidate (really, an OK guy this time) loses. One more case of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against Boxer.

U.S. REPRESENTATIVE: Write-in me. No Republican, or any other party candidate filed to run for Congress in my heavily Democrat congressional district. So I'll write-in my own damn self.

STATE ASSEMBLYMAN: Rita Topalian. Great success story. An Armenian immigrant who survived childhood in Hitler's Germany, worked hard and raised a family, THEN went back to school for a law degree. Her opposition? An arrogant, self-serving incumbent who's the latest member of his family to "inheirit" the 58th A.D. seat. Rita's the best candidate we've offered in years, and she can win this.

SUPERIOR COURT JUDGES: Campbell, Jones, Priver, Lopez, Meyer. Hey, I don't know, when all else fails vote for the prosecutor.

PROP 1A: Yes. 65 is better, but the supporters backed out and cut a deal with Schwarzenegger to get behind this one and back 1A. This one prevents state gov't from mugging local gov't when they can't balance their books, like 65. Difference is this one lets the state do it for two more years, THEN stops it.

PROP 59: Yes. Open government, transparency, all that good stuff.

PROP 60: Yes. Preserve freedom of association and ability of parties to nominate a candidate in primaries to compete in the general elections.

PROP 60A: No. Sell off surplus property to pay off our EXCRUCIATINGLY high level of bond debt? Great idea. BUT - it'd be better if it could go to things like expanding roads, but oh well. It'll probably pass anyways.

PROP 61: No. We can't afford it.

PROP 62: NO. Don't implement Louisiana-style open primaries in this state. A disaster.

PROP 63: NO. Soak the rich to pay for mental health? Sorry, I want to be rich some day.

PROP 64: YES. Stop the shakedown lawsuits. Want to know why everyone hates lawyers? The reason for this prop is one reason why.

PROP 65: See Prop. 1A. Yes.

PROP 66: NO. Don't screw with "3 Strikes" and let scores of criminals out on the streets. Are you nuts? And no, there are no damn pizza thieves serving life for stealing pizzas.

PROP 67: No. The phone tax to "support" emergency medical services. Didn't we vote for this a few years ago?

PROP 68: No. Extortion, pretty much. Hey, it gets the job done if it passes, but there are better ways of negotiating things. State wants its cash, one way or another.

PROP 69: Yes. I had some reservations about the DNA collection and getting yourself removed from the felon list if you're falsely arrested and your DNA collected, but I'm talking myself into believing they'll fix this later on.

PROP 70: Yes. Let 'em gamble. It's their land.

PROP 71: NO. Six billion dollars? Can't afford it.

PROP 72: NO. State mandated health care plan. OK, so in order to not be affected by this plan, a bunch of businesses will either cut down the number of employees they have, or will just move out of state and take their jobs with them.

MEASURE A (L.A. County): No. Baca, Bratton, use the money you have and budget yourself better. And you ought to be ashamed using those stupid ads of yours on TV.

I can't remember exactly, caught a short comment on the radio this morning. One of the new districts created after the last census. Suppose to be in the Fresno-Bakerfield area.

I'm in Pacific Palisades (near Santa Monica) and voted absentee last week. I'll ask about the lines when I pick up my son from school but in the last week or so, the number of Bush/Cheney signs have multiplied in our very sKerry neighborhood. It used to be about 15-1 Kerry but now it's about 5-1 so while I won't hold my breath about taking California, I do think it will be very close.

About 5 or 6PM our time it'd be a good idea for one of us in CA to start a new thread to comment on voting experiences and link the state and county returns. This one will be quite full by then, I think.

I live in the Prunedale/Salinas area. The line was 50 people deep at 8:00AM. Last two elections there were only 5-6 people at that hour.

I have finished the training session and off to the polls. I have been assigned two locations and have been instructed on what observations to make. We are to be as invisible as possible and only observe and report to a special GOP hot-line in the event of irregularities. My polls are in the city with a very wide mix of peoples and surprisingly very GOP. I'll let you know about turnout soon.

Reporting in from Ventura County

Heavy voting and lines outside of the church in Camarillo at 7:30 this morning.

Returned to vote at 10:00 a.m. and walked right in. Checked the posted voter rolls and saw a high percentage of Republicans have voted.

This County went for Bush in 2000 on the basis of absentee ballots. Bush actually lost on election day votes. Potential for vote fraud in Oxnard, with heavy Democratic registration.

FReeper "rabid dog" is one of our Republican county coordinators. She, and the others have done a great job with getting out the vote.

My oldest daughter, a college student away from home, voted by absentee ballot. Very excited - straight Republican ticket!

My son and his wife will be voting in Riverside County.

I'll be a poll worker in San Diego (805/8) area.
