Pennsylvania is heartland America, as representative a state of what America is all about as any. Good people, good place to live."
That may be why Carville has a problem with it.

There was an article posted about 4 years ago on Free Republic by a woman living in the UK. She had worked for Carter during the 1976 primary in Philadelphia and her description of the corruption was truly stunning (e.g., 100 votes on the machine before the polls opened, a boss type guy telling everyone how to vote -- including the nuns, etc.). If anyone remembers that article and has a pointer to it, I'd appreciate it.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I was a member of the IAM-AW for 15 years, my husband still is. In the trade unions, the rank and file are very conservative, and they openly ridicule the union leadership for the knee-jerk Dem activism.

true landslides start in PA and NJ!
This may go beyond landslide, this may go AVALANCHE!!!!!!!

I'm in Central Pa, and it was the most I ever waited at a polling place at 9 am (I was #350). The poll watchers taking names were at separate tables, one for Pubs and one for Dems; mighty short line at the Dem table.

My friend in Lancaster said he waited 1 and 1/4 hours to vote. He said the longest wait before today was 10 minutes. He was extremely encouraged:)

I voted "conservative" before I became a union member, and my membership has not changed my voting preferences, and never will...

Is it too early to start pumping Santorum for President in 2008?

That may be true, but only 4M failed to vote in 2000. Still, 4 million more Bush votes would make this a short night.

1 hour wait to vote in my township in Northern York County -- and that was a 9AM (usually voting lines slacken by mid-morning). I cleared the polling place around 10AM and the line was still an hour long. I can't imagine the lunch hour crush, it's crazy.
There was a couple of young college kids with Moveon.org watching the polls, but they weren't bothering anybody. Clearly not from the area...

Santorum is Catholic. He got Reagan/JFK Democrat votes. His opponent was weak, too. He was no Fast Eddie.

I am going to be at my (liberal Dem) girlfriend's house until about 10:30. What issues is she liberal on? What does she hate about Bush?

I don't wish to be a wet blanket, but these turnout numbers could be indicative of an earlier turnout than 2000 not a larger one. I hope I am wrong, but I don't think celebrations are in order at 12:50 EST.

May God richly bless Rick Santorum!!!

"Is it too early to start pumping Santorum for President in 2008?" As a born and raised Pennsylvanian, I always thought Rick would be a great choice as VP. Help carry the State and set him up for President down the road.
