Republicans are the liberals in the true sense of the word. They are the ones changing the world. The "liberals" as we used to define the term are actually reactionaries. They want to defend the status quo (secularism, abortion, the "living" constitution, pacifism, reliving the Viet Nam era, appeasement, the UN, global tests). The Republicans/Conservatives say "No More It has to change".

All 1 needs to know is that "conservative" and "liberal" are relative terms.

A conservative in this country 220 years ago was pushing the monarchist authoritarian status quo. They were "conserving" the present status quo.

After a while, any1 who was a conservative was conserving the "American way" of life (as defined originally). This label has stuck and we can't seem to shake it, despite wholesale changes in the country's climate.

Today, what we call "liberal" actually dominates our politics and cultural discourse. So in truth, the terminology should be changed by now. *We* should be the liberals, and they should be the conservatives, conserving the fascist regulations and bureaucracy they created over the last 50-some years.
