Look, I've corresponded with Arlen's office since 1986 and at the risk of you, my friends tearing me apart, he has expressed a desire to have the prolifers and prochoicers come to some compromise(I know, you folks think there is no such thing but before Roe a woman could get an abortion up to 12 weeks if apporved by a 3 doctor panel-this reduces what we can not stop-legal or illegal abortions).

Specter actually has a pretty good ACU rating. The thing is that he diagrees when it will get him the most attention. That's why I am convinced he wants a judge to kill. The problem is that the next candidate may be one to replace Rehnquist. Or maybe a vote to elevate one of the other justices. I prefer Thomas. The Chief cannot write the kind of scathing dissents Scalia is known for.

Specter fought for Thomas and will not block him as chief of SCOTUS. Yes, I know, Arlen is an opportunist but believe me, the feminist went nuts against him when he did so and Arlen wanted a real impeacment trial but was blocked by Lott and Santorum on his right side-don't be fooled-all 100 Senators are prima donas as far as I'm concerned.
