Ashcroft worked hard and has been ripped for everything he has done by the left. But God bless him, I would be sorry to see him go.

He did well. For being the icon by the left as some facist, he has done good for our country.
I hope his successor will be just as annoying to the left.

Rudy for Ashcroft? Don't think so, he's lean's too far left of right. (know what I mean?)

"Didn't John Ashcroft have health problems recently?"
Didn't he have gallstones and some sort of infection a few months back? That's what I seem to recall.

Hasn't he been receiving death threats more or less continuously since his appointment, and needing constant security? I've heard that more than once. I wouldn't be surprised if he's decided to leave the post for an easier life.

No, not Rudy. We need him to challenge the Hilldebeast for NY Senator in 06.
He may be our last hope to derail her run for the Presidency.
To: Ptarmigan
Didn't John Ashcroft have health problems recently?Gall bladder, kidney stones....something like that.
To: demnomo
Rudy for Attorney General. As a former US Attorney for the Southern District of NY, Rudy would be perfect.
To: AQGeiger
Yes, I think he has some health issues and stated he also wants to spend more time with his family.

Not Rudy,
Has his sights on 2008, no need for additional scrutiny.
However there is JFK, after all, he was a prosecutor....

that's an excellent suggestion, I could dig Rogan as Attorney General. He was a impeachment manager would the Dems in the Senate "let him pass" ?

A good man, and the left's hatred for him is a wonderful
testimony to this.
But I'd rather have a moderate who is tough and aggressive
when he decides to be with us. So perhaps it's for the best
-- if Bush chooses well.
Specter is now the guy to watch. How extensive are a chairman's powers over a nomination if a majority of the committee is for it? I'm thinking our four-seat gain in the Senate allows us one more seat on Judiciary? Does anyone know?
To: Keith in Iowa
why right now? can't he hold on until after the inauguration? this will be a negative note coming right after the re-election.
To: ElkGroveDan
Former Congressman Jim Rogan would be a fantastic replacement. Yes, Rogan is definitely one of the good guys.

true, but let's let the 2nd term start first before they start leaving.
To: Keith in Iowa
Personally I think the entire cabinate should resign, then the president can ask any he wants to keep to stay on. I worry he might keep weak members out of sense of loyality. If they all resign then wont have that problem.
To: Lizavetta
It is commonplace for major cabinet changes in a second term. I would expect at least four in this Administration in the coming months. No biggie.

I believe that tradition holds that all cabinet members will tender their resignations thus giving the president the option of asking them to stay or replace them.
