America's faith in freedom has been reaffirmed. With the re-election of President Bush, America recommitted itself once again to expanding freedom and promoting liberty. Only the 1864 re-election of Abraham Lincoln, the 1944 re-election of Franklin Roosevelt and the 1980 election of Ronald Reagan rival this victory as milestones in the preservation of our security by the advancement of freedom.

Hey, I did a search...
I just did a search for "I tried to tell you" and found 4 previous threads.
I loved this post!
"a national party no more."
"a national party no more."
The war was practically over by the 1944 election. What the hell is he talking about?
It's time to remember now that he's still a Democrat with a heavily statist bent. One can appreciate his stand in favor of Bush, but that doesn't mean his words should be taken as any kind of gospel.
Is this the article that Sean read today on his talk show?
In November 1944, the US was still looking at the monumental task of invading the Japanese home islands, an operation that was expected to cost the lives of more than 100,000 American soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines.
I'd hardly call the war "almost over" in November, 1944. The
Battle of the Bulge hadn't even taken place yet.
yes
Hey, I appreciate a 'repost', as I can't stay online 24/7. So a repeat of some significant pieces benefits me as I may catch at least one of the postings. Who's complaining? Not me!
Zell's Got the beam and he still needs to lead. I'd like to see him on a ticket for President or vice-President. He is an outstanding individual and a Marine. He has the dicipline.
you are correct, but momentum had shifted on all fronts and it was just a matter of time before the axis would be annihilated. sort of like the democratic party right now....
Monitoring DU (until they shut it down, I feel that they simply will never get it. Zell Miller gets it.
He is a man who issued a stern rebuke to his party, and was very courageous in telling the truth......yet I see that the left is still asking questions about what went wrong.
I would trade Zell Miller for a couple of our RINOS in a minute.
The most important part of the 1944 election occurred when Southern Senators got FDR to replace Wallace as VP with Truman. We might have lost the Cold War before it started if Wallace had been President instead of Truman.
I love Zell.

Thanks! I also don't mind this being posted again. Sometimes I can read FR in the A.M. and sometimes in the P.M. I have noticed that there are a lot of 24 hour people who take reposts personally, but they shouldn't. Someone new will always be reading the current posts and be better informed because of it.
That was a wonderful article. This needs to be sent to all democrats to read.

WWII wasn't over until 1945, and it wasn't just confined to Old Europe. We were fighting the Japanese AND the Germans.
Im so proud of Zell Miller. I have to admit voting against him as Gov. but he seems to have changed once he got to Washington and saw just how liberal it is on the Dem. side of the aisle. Also he has never failed to remind everyone that he was just doing his best to fill the seat of a man who he greatly admired, our late Senator Paul Coverdell.
At least theres one Democrat with a little humility in Washington.
WOW ... Strong opening by Zell!
If this had not been reposted, I wouldn't have seen it.
Then everything should be posted at least five times so as to make sure you see it.
That's exactly what happened in the election. Miller for Isaakson.
