Military hospital sets up morgue, doubles staff in preparation for Fallujah assault
AP ^ | 11.05.04 | Jim Krane

The combat hospital on the chief U.S. base near Fallujah has set up a morgue and doubled medical staff and supplies in preparation for an expected stream of casualties from an anticipated assault on the rebel stronghold.

''We've had 20 to 30 casualties on a given day here. We expect maybe double that on a serious day. And we can handle them,'' Capt. Eric Lovell, a Navy doctor, said Thursday at the base hospital, a low concrete building announced by a sign saying ''Cheaters of Death.''

The hospital added a Marine Mortuary Affairs team last month, a unit charged with identifying dead troops, cataloguing their personal effects and preparing their bodies for the flight to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

The morgue team counts 16 reservists trained in handling corpses of U.S. troops as well as Iraqi civilians and fighters that arrive at the hospital here, said Commander Lach Noyes, a Navy surgeon. The morgue team also travels to bomb scenes to recover body parts and corpses that need to be extracted from vehicles, Noyes said.

This is just like before the Iraq war started. The MSM was gleefully reporting orders for tens of thousands of body bags.

Blogger, I wonder if we can do our 24 hour prayer covering again? Can you use your ping list and ask people if they want to participate? I've been thinking and praying about Fallujah for several days now. Blogger, if you don't have time to organize this again, I'll take your ping list and try. We need to be on our knees about this.

The Psalms
140

A Prayer for Protection against Persecutors To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.

1 Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;
2 which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.
3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.
4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.
5 The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.
6 I said unto the LORD, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.
7 O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.
8 Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.
9 As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
10 Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.
11 Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.
12 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.
13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.

That insurgents from throughout the Middle East have come to Fallujah is a stroke of good luck. We have the fish in the barrel. Commence firing.

The ELECTION had to take a little of the resolve out of the insurgents. We need to clamp down with a 20 hour a day curfew, and then take the city block by block if necessary. Mosques are legitimate targets -- those that hide there are not real muslims. IDs for all men under 45. Fallujah delenda est. Again.

No it was on the TV screen. The embedded reporter was under gag restrictions as he was been briefed by senior officers, but he is expecting a long day. It seems that the marines have substantial Iraqi forces that will go in first.

I agree completely and we would probably have zero casualties in this operation. They the terrorists would not hesitate to drop them on us. We need to stop fighting that kinder/gentler war concept. The time has come to turn the screws on those camel pedophiles.

Yeah, I got into it with a lefty yesterday at work, quite by accident. When he claimed that there was no proof that Iraq supported terrorism, I knew there was no middle ground and I needed to disengage. Still took five more minutes to slowly back away far enough that I could safely suddenly run like hell.

I want to give props to FR though -- before I decided to disengage we were fighting like jedi warriors with light sabers. Every claim he made I was able to counter. Then he'd change the subject or change tactics. Poste, Riposte. It was just like on TV!

Tell HR you are being intimidated on the job.
You don't have to put up with that.

They need to have a morgue - we are going to kill massive amounts of their people and they have to be buried in like 24 hours according to Muslim law. We can't let them rot and make the survivors do it.

Any moron with half a brain can pick up that this is the reason for preparation. Why people post AP crap here is beyond me - they quote someone, then they editorialize as if the same information came from the quoted source. This is garbage.

You're being humorous, I assume. If I am correct, I laugh with you.

If you are being sarcastic, please explain to me why we need risk even one hero's life for these sub-human creatures when we have the capability to deal with this situation much like the Romans dealt with Carthage?

If you want military strategic brilliance, look no further than the Romans.

This is why we have such platforms as the A-10, AC-130, and the MOABs.

The dems meltdown is in full swing. I don't think I will be having any more conversations with this person.

She decided to continue her rant to others who reported it as well and has been escorted out of the building.

What is with the left who feel that its is the Presidents job to give you a job that pays 100K when they will not take any initiative to help themselves. Ranting about how we are killing Iraqis. Do they think my boys enjoying killing those who are aiming RPGs at them?

Good men are going into harms way and good men are going to die; the fact that we will win is not in doubt. Our soldiers will be victorious in battle.

The only campaign that remains to be fought is the battle here, on the home front with those who cannot see and will not ever understand why our fathers and sons prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice.

They dont want to understand, all that matters to them is themselves. they dont want to admit that others have to fight to give them the freedoms they enjoy. Everything must be handed to them on a silver platter by the sweat of others.

My nerves are a mess over this, I know we are going to lose soldiers, it may not be my son but it will be somebodies son and we will all feel the pain.
