Gay bishop blasts presidential race.

WATERVILLE -- Questioning the meaning of "moral values" and warning of arrogance and hegemony, Bishop V. Gene Robinson said at Colby College on Thursday that the tragedy of polarization was an inability to admit vulnerability or doubt.

Robinson prefaced his wide-ranging speech by warning that his remarks were "unfiltered and unanalyzed." He went on to criticize both Republicans and Democrats for exploiting fear in the presidential campaigns, took a dig at the religious right and called for replacing the idea of "winning" with the idea of "reconciliation."

The "Bishop" does go after both Bush and Kerry but most of his baby fit was directed at the so called religious right.

Questioning the meaning of "moral values"

This from a man who left his wife for another man's rectum.

Forget that noise. Gee, I wonder if they'd be calling for "reconciliation" had they won?

Or, more likely left his wife so another man could stick it up his rectum.

Exactly. It's like I said, when your enemy is on his deathbed, don't bring flowers. Bring a pillow. ( another Freeper said "bring a shovel". I like that)

Yesterday, Rush talked about this article that talks about gays giving Bush the same support in 2004 that he got in 2000 - almost 25% (a million votes)...

And the good bishop didn't mention that "reconciliation" is meant to be with God, not with man. The religious right is absolutely correct to stand up for God and for Truth.

Well, miss hissy-fit Vicki...we fail to see why 2% of the population who are gay should be dictating to the majority what and how we should think. Shove it.

Why is it only when Republicans win you hear about the need for 'reconciliation' and 'healing'.

If Kerry won it would have been "Get out of the way conservatives, It's OUR turn."

A "bishop"? Questioning the meaning of moral values? Is there something wrong with that statement?

Personally, I can't think of anyone more "polarizing" than Jesus himself. He even said that he came to divide. Good and evil are, by definition, poles apart. This is not a bad thing.

"The religious right is hardly religious and definitely not right," he said, to laughter and applause. "They're in bed with the enemy. They're in bed with winning and arrogance. We have let them hijack the Bible. It is our book, and these are our stories, and we cannot let them be misused."

An openly gay bishop is as absurd as having a pastor who is openly having an extramarital affair. The bible sets forth what is right and wrong, and very clearly too. It can be a convicting book, of course some choose to pick and choose what portions they would believe. Arrogance??? Perhaps arrogance would be to say that the Bible's position on homosexuality is wrong because it was written so long ago, before science proved.......

The "Bishop " Robinson is a self proclaimed Homosexual with a live in Aberration.

He has no Moral Standing and using his name in the same sentence with Moral values is an OXY/MORON.

He is, at this time, destroying His Church.

"They're in bed . . . " Well, "bishop", I'd rather be in bed with victory today than be in bed getting my rectum plugged. So stick a sock in it, you pervert. (I mean in your mouth, although you've probably already tried the other place.)

He didn't get elected Bishop by following this advice. He set out to win and the heck with reconciliation. His win is costing the entire Episcopal Church in the world to split at the seams. Reconciliation ? He has no idea what it means.

It's not only the "Bible" that defines morality it is ingrained in everyone's heart and those who let selfishness triumph over it are the real losers.

Thank goodness "fly over country" is there!

Typical liberal approach whether in religion or politics: They clamor for the other side to at least be open to all views, and then they try to crush all other views once they gain power. It is how the religious left has squeezed the life out of many denominations.

When a Bishop criticizes people for following the word of Christ to closely the irony is almost to much to take. "By their fruits you shall know them." (double entendre purely conincidental)

Look well at who this false prophet sees as the enemy.

I'm embarrassed to admit I was raised as an Episcopalian.

We should stop using the word homosexual, and replace it with "sodomite", or sodomites. For example, "Sodomites such as Robinson are responsible for the world-wide AIDS epidemic." Or, "The sodomite and terrorists Arafat died in Paris." Or "Sodomite parade to be held in Boston."

No worries just be glad you got out before they made homosexuality mandatory.

The more they let this guy speak out, the more Episcopalians they'll lose to Christianity.
