It wouldn't be the first time people were falsely accused of witchcraft. I have looked into the Salem thing. Those who were accused tended to be devout Christians- and with property. The accusers were involved with the occult. And guess who ended up with the property?

Agreed. Funny how people refer to Saturday morning cartoons as "half-hour long commercials," but don't mention the toy store shelves filled with Barney and Sesame Street toys.

Keillor's a highly overrated one-trick pony whose welcome has been overstayed at least a decade, and hasn't bothered to leaven his heavy-handed politics with humor for a long time. I make a point of not listening to him. (Besides, I feel sorry for all the performers he inflicts himself on by making them sing with him.)

Auction off their TV and Radio spectrum. Make them pay market value for the radio frequencies they use versus commercial ventures. Then do not increase funding. Let the market decide.

Letters of Thomas Jefferson: PATIENCE AND THE REIGN OF WITCHES

To John Taylor
Philadelphia, June 4, 1798

[excerpt]

"Seeing, therefore, that an association of men who will not quarrel with one another is a thing which never yet existed, from the greatest confederacy of nations down to a town meeting or a vestry, seeing that we must have somebody to quarrel with, I had rather keep our New England associates for that purpose than to see our bickerings transferred to others. They are circumscribed within such narrow limits, & their population so full, that their numbers will ever be the minority, and they are marked, like the Jews, with such a peculiarity of character as to constitute from that circumstance the natural division of our parties. A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to it's true principles."

I listened a bit to Prarie Home Companion this evening, my wife likes to listen. It seems this is a real Bush/ Republican bashing night. Garrison has become very political in his show. He would have a much better show if he'd leave out the politics.

I had it on in the car as I ran a few errands..he was telling a few election jokes, and I thought he might be a little balanced and throw one at kerry..but no..at least not as long as I listened (which after the third I turned it off).

So when do they start the witch burning? It would be great to see them try.

Hey canuckistan;

Unlike canadian broadcasting, the vast majority of commercial TV and Radio have to pay for their use of the the radio spectrum and get licenses.

Yes American taxpayers do "fund" PBS and NPR by providing monies for facilities, frequencies for broadcast, and funding for programming.. We should not have tax mondies going for this BS.

Do Not Defund the PBS and NPR and NEA . . .

Why?

Despite PBS and NPR and NEA's liberal bias, they know which side of their bread is buttered. As long as there is the threat that they will be defunded, they will keep it snide and low key.

The existence of PBS and NPR and NEA keep more vicious liberal radio organs unprofitable. (See, Airhead America Radio).

Give them PBS and NPR and NEA. It is like giving a neddle to a heroin addict.

And he doesn't possess half the class or graciousness Al Franken has, not to mention Al's ingenius shakedown of Soros when he needed money (instead of looking for a taxpayer bail-out).

I'm not a fan of either man but I have to give credit where it's due.
