So? His wife is loaded, CA isn't. He promised what he promised, and we just simply want him to deliver on his promises. If he doesn't want to upset democrats or have to sleep on the couch, he should've stayed in Hollywood. As I said, I'm pleased with a couple of things Arnold has done successfully. But he has failed to deliver on one BIG PROMISE, and that was to 'let the sun shine in' on the Budget. That is the only way we are going to ferret out the corruption that has bankrupted this state. 37BILLION dollars isn't funny. No more excuses. Show us what happened and fix it. But the government unions and retirees will fight us tooth and nail for their right to continue fleecing Californians.

No. It wasn't a problem until election season started.

Arnold never resided in Ohio. His connection to Ohio is that he holds an annual bodybuilding event in Columbus.

I saw him introduce the President at a function; it was o.k., but not earth shattering.

He was definitely a plus in Ohio, but not a major plus.

"He was definitely a plus in Ohio, but not a major plus."

Any extra vote that Arnold got Bush in Ohio helped to put Bush in the win category.

Oh for goodness sakes, things are pretty dire when a German has a better sense of humor than you do.

I heard him quoted on the radio. He did WANT TO UPSET THE DEMOCRATS IN CALIFORNIA. He said, paraphrasing here: he did not want to govern as a Republican or a Democrat. This was said a week or so before the election. I heard a portion of this played on the radio. I don't have a link. But, can you doubt it's true since he didn't campaign for Bush in CA. Bill Jones when interviewed on KMJ580 radio was asked whether Arnold was going to campaign for him, he said yes. When asked if he knew if Arnold was going to campaign for President Bush in CA as well, he said ABSOLUTELY. In fact, he said, Arnold had a couple of TV ads "in the can", ready to go. They were never aired. The ONLY explanation that seems forthcoming, was that which I heard on the radio, that Arnold himself said, that he DIDN'T WANT TO UPSET THE DEMOCRATS IN CALIFORNIA. I don't like it, but it certainly seems plausible to me.

If you know of some other statement that explains why he didn't campaign for Bush here, but in OH and FL instead, I'd love to know what he said. I truly mean that. I was VERY dissapointed that he asked and recieved a chance to speak at the RNC. It was a brilliant speach and performance. I then EXPECTED his full support for the President. When I heard that he would not campaign in CA, I felt he betrayed the Republicans in this state that supported his election in the first place.

So.. this is not some rube trying to take cheap shots at Arnold. He has some 'splainin' to do.

Like I stated earlier in the thread it was Bush who wanted him to campaign with him in OH rather than CA. It was Bush's decision not Arnold's.

"I've got a liberal boyfriend. It's very difficult."

You are in a difficult situation that is unlikely to bring happiness to you or your boyfriend. There are fine, conservative men looking for like minded women. You should consider terminating your current relationship and choose a new road with a greater possibility of a happy ending. Good luck, Mrs Pepperdog.

Well, do we know if Bush asked Arnold NOT to campaign in CA?? I'm glad Arnold did what he did, but still feel he owed it to CA to campaign for him here as well. JMHO..

All I know is Bush asked Arnold to go to OH and FL and campaign with him there. Did Bush even go to CA?

Bush used him where Bush felt he would be most effective. I think Bush learned his lesson from 2000 when he spent millions of dollars in CA and time there late in the campaign and still lost it. Bush didn't even try in 2004. A wise decision.

I understand that logic, but it still doesn't explain why they didn't use ads Arnold already taped. In a state that had finally had it with the Gray Davis democrats running this state in the ground, I believe Arnold owed it to the party that put him in the Gov's seat, to run those ads and support the President... My gripe is with Arnold's words and deeds with respect to CA. To give less than his full effort just isn't "Arnold like". Hopefully, the full story will be told at some point.

"To give less than his full effort..."

Giving a prime time speech at the RNC convention and going to OH and FL isn't an indication of his support?

We must have a different understanding of what is and what isn't a meaning of "support."

The Founding Fathers knew EXACTLY what they were doing when they created our written in stone document...

Every time I consider the possibility of amending the Constitution to allow foreign-born citizens to be President, I think of the debacle in Peru a few years ago, and how THEIR foreign-born president made a mess of things and ran back to his home country. Hmmm...
