They would lose big time. Leftists in this country are way behind the "private ownership of firearms" curve.

That would be an understatement.

In Washington, there are movements in ultra liberal counties, such as King County, to split the counties. The splits would essentially be along urban, liberal areas and the more conservative areas. This may come as a shock to O'Donnell and the DUmmies, but it is the liberals who so adamantly oppose these splits.

Red state want a tax cut Blue states want a tax increase. Why can't both get what they want? All we have to do is eliminate the tax deduction for state income taxes and real estate taxes and allow a deduction for driving to work.

Oh my GOD...holding sides...laughing soooo hard...gasping for air...

"Cut off all contact with Republican relatives"

This is RICH...this is cult-like mentality if I've ever heard it.

Seriously folks- did any of you ever realize there were this MANY of these folks out there? Truthfully, I didn't. Although I know they are entrenched in our colleges and our public schools...I had no CLUE so many people were like this. I feel like an idiot.

Come to think of it...I have some family in Burlington, Vermont. They are really kind and fun people. After a death in the family last summer we talked on the phone...and we made plans to get together for the funeral.
At the end of our chat the elction came up- my cousin asked who I was voting for- when I told him GWB, all the warmth left his voice. Further- none of them came to the funeral.

I seriously think he is. Pre-election, when he was on MSNBC and another guest stated that Danial Patrick M. would have supported Bush for reelection, O'Donnell interrupted and starting shouting and getting red as the proverbial beet. I thought he was going to have a stroke on national TV.

O'Donnell's bile speaks for itself, but take a look at

http://www.taxfoundation.org/ff/taxingspendingupdate.html

'Blue states' tend somewhat to get less from the Feds than their red counterparts. Does getting a lot of Federal money make the recipient states skeptical of its value? Are the blue states simply more willing to bribe others to get their favorite sons into power?

Mean federal expenditure per dollar of federal taxes paid is $1.12.

01 - North Dakota 2.03
02 - New Mexico 1.89
03 - Mississippi 1.84
04 - Alaska 1.82
05 - West Virginia 1.74

25 - Kansas 1.14
26 - Vermont 1.12

41 - California 0.81
42 - New York 0.81
44 - Massachusetts 0.79
46 - Minnesota 0.46
47 - Nevada 0.73
48 - New Hampshire 0.68
49 - Connecticut 0.64
50 - New Jersey 0.52

Now O'Donnell's saying they ought to secede too? The first left-wing whacko I heard this from is Bob Beckles. Then I heard it from Geraldine Ferraro. After hearing this, I wrote friends and family an email, which included the following...

"Bob Beckles, democrat operative and spokesman said recently, after the election, that the red states might as well secede (personally, I LIKE the idea). Geraldine Ferraro (Ferrari = powerful, sexy, Italian sports car, and winner of many races; Ferraro = powerless democrat, past her prime and not particularly attractive, Italian poor sport, famous loser of races) said on Hannity and Colmes last night that if the red states seceded from the blue that they would lose all of the talented, enlightened people and would be left with nothing (or something very much to that effect). What a pompous, condescending, arrogant, conceited, bitch. Sounds like a mirror image of Kerry, although he is not a bitch (that merely describes his crazy-ass wife and his "little-bitch-of-a-running-mate-with-the-little-girlie-hands-as-described-by-Ann-Coulter" - John Edwards). NO WONDER THEY LOST BIG TIME."

Hmmmm, really? Seems to me those blue states are mostely head offices, collecting funds from those red states. Let them leave, I really do wish they would. It would certainly make our country much nicer. BTW, I assume all the red people in those blue states would relocate to red America.

Actually it is true BUT it is only half the story. Farm price supports go to the blue states and count on the Federal Funds Reports. The price supports help farmers but the bigger policy objective is to maintain cheap food prices for the blue states. They have created an artificial economy and the blue states have no choice but to participate.

Second, manufacturing, distribution, and financial centers will naturally be located in centralized locations (cities). Functions requiring specialized knowledge will naturally be clustered around the centers of higher education (cities again). Red states are important as MARKETS. Cut off the red areas as markets and the blue will collapse. It is just a function of a free market and has nothing to do with the productivity or values of the comparative regions.

There is a disturbing trend to a welfare mentality in the red areas but it is a shadow of what is in the blue areas. The brightest of the rural young people are being pushed to the cities for education and jobs. The remaining population is aging rapidly and is dependent on Social Security and other programs. The legacy industries are being replaced with quasi-governmental economies such as health care.

What he says is true to a point. The bigger point is that they can be replaced in a heartbeat, we can't.

I looked up the stats. The inner cities have 17.5% poverty. Even in the most rural areas, where pay is much lower, but so is cost of living, those falling under the national poverty level are only about 14.2%- and that makes it only about 7.5 million instead of the 14.5 million of the cities. See for yourselves.

Hello,

You know, I had always believed (wrongly, as it turned out) that this election would put an end to the vile hate speech coming from the left. I wrongly assumed that the Old Media would pull it and not air it, as it harms them in the long run. So, I kept telling myself that after Election Day, we would have some time without it. It has gotten worse! In 1992 and again in 1996, I was very disappointed, and sad that this county had chosen Clinton, but I do not remember (EVER) the ongoing insanity that we experiencing now. It is a breathtaking in it's disconnect from reality.

Glad to be here, MOgirl

There was a move by the San Fernando valley to secede form Los Angeles, and one thing that killed it was that the San Fernando valley would be forced to send a several hundred million dollars a year to LA for 10 years to make up for what LA was sucking out of them in taxes.

I really the idea of Cedar county on the eastside. I wish Reichart had made political hay of Ross being endorsed by the Seattle papers. Ads along the line of "the eastside needs a congressman who represents the eastside, not one who represents Seattle."

Dream on. Waste of time to even try it, even for these losers. Presidential impeachment is voted on in the House, not the Senate; the Senate renders judgment on the charges.

There isn't a chance in hell that a House impeachment resolution would get 180 votes, let alone pass. Sheesh.

They will have to "outsource" their food, fuel, electrical power, house building materials such as LUMBER from TREES, military, factories which make most everything they use from toilet paper to frozen dinners to clothing to automobiles.

Let them. That leaves more for the rest of us.

It would actually be Freedom county, there is a larger sign on I-5 where it would begin. Pierce county also has a movement to create Rainier county. I think Reichert should have by a larger margin, it used to be that the 8th district went 70-80% republican. I'm in the 1st district and we for many years had a republican congressman.

I think it would help if we stopped allow the EU-nuchs to dump their Airbus jets in America, we did have 3 companies making jetliners here, with 80 to 90% market share. Now were down to one, with less than 50% market share.

If the US would stop acting like the guy who gets traded around the cell block for Marlboro's when it comes to foreign trade Bush would have carried Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. He also would have gotten well over 60 million votes.

No, the Blue states have the welfare people. Both the filthy rich big city people and the welfare leeches are in the big city.

The red states receive more in federal tax money than they pay into the treasury.

Virginia gets a lot, but that is because we have lots of military installations and the biggest naval station in the world.

Portsmouth Virginia is at a distinct disadvantage on tax base because the Federal Government owns so much of the land.

O'Donnell is beginning to look a lot like an Orc.

There has to be a lot of odd arrangements to account for the red/blue spending trends. Alaska, for example, has a very large percentage of its land owned by the feds, so the feds have to pay for various services there. There is no doubt that more private ownership there would yield more wealth than the extra federal spending.

I'm inclined to the 'blue states bribe red states' theory until I find some detailed analysis.
