Yep! I love that quote. If you go to that link to the text, there is the text from the movie with George C. Scott and then there is the text from Patton's ACTUAL statement. Unsensored.

World War Two gave us "Torch", "Husky", "Dragoon", etc., but in recent years everything has been "Operation Improve Conditions", "Operation Restore Hope", "Operation Justice and Comfort", "Operation A New Beginning", or whatever.

A while back there was "Anaconda".

My bet Zarkie has long turned his tail and fled (brave, brave Sir Zarkie) and is riding a camel toward the syrian border while Osama is sipping mint tea in Pakistan at the house of the chief of the ISI, watching it all on CNN while he waits for the ayatollah's to finish their bomb.

This is only place I have seen this report of 38 U.S.captured by the enemy.I read a report where we captured 38 Iraqi's.
If 38 of our guys were captured I'd expect it to be on FOX or CNN.

*Post I'm sure we'll see on DU anytime now:*

Osama Bin Laden and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi killed in Falluja?

No that can't be true, because Rove put ILM and Pixar up to doing that latest Osama video (see, both companies were given venture capital by Google, which is a front organization for BushCo to let them know when you search for pictures of Lindsay Lohan's boobs), but they really killed him as a scape goat for doing Bush's bidding (destroying the WTC was all Bush's master plot, the dumbass)months ago, and they just dumped his body last night during the AC-110 gunship raids, so now they'll go "find" his body and Bush will look like a hero!

ROVE YOU EVIL GENIOUS!!!

Not a tank expert and many, many years from hearing the faint rattle of musketry, but here goes...

There are many different variables in your #1 question: the type of round fired [armor-piercing, fin-stabilized discarding sabot made of depleted uranium (AP), high-explosive antitank (HEAT), and/or high-explosive multipurpose antitank (MPAT)] and the type of construction of the houses. A sabot round would go the fartherest, yet the holes would not necessarily be man sized. HEAT or MPAT rounds would blow a large hole in the outside wall, yet may not hole the inner walls. It may also bring down the whole house, depending the construction materials.

#2, there is not, to my knowledge, a single round like that, but there is a 120mm "beehive" cannister round that throws about 1200 tungsten steel balls that would be like a Claymore on steroids.

Hope this info helps or Google M1A1 M1A2 tank rounds for more.

Urban Warfare is the most difficult type of combat and I pray for our troops. May God guide their hands.

MSNBC reporter: 4000 troops entering from the north. Full-scale ground assault. 24 hour curfew on city. Arrest killer; "If you kill them, let it be", Alawi (sp) the Iraqi PM said.

Army 1st ID reporter, Jackie Spinner (phone report MSNBC). 1.5 hours ago, entered the city, detonating booby traps. Some resistance. Impossible to tell how long battle will last. Big battle will be when they reach further into the inner city where most of the 'insurgents' are.

Preparing for door-to-door, if necessary.

Troops were anxious to get in, restless, in the 'hurry up and wait' mode. Glad to be in action.
