Yeah really. I would trade half our side and replace them with Zels.
Chafee's next day as a Republican will be his first one....
LOL
When the Republicans vote to reorganize the Senate. That will be one of the few votes where he will vote with the Republicans.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Show's you how many RINO's there are by wanting Chaffee to stay in the party, Bush should not forget the Conservative base of the republican party.
Yep, that's how the military works and I agree with you, but it ain't how politics works! Old Linc will be invited to the White House soon. W wants his appointments passed!
Why would he change to the minority? Nothing in it for him. This is not a Jeffords deal.
"I don't respect him nor his voice"
What? You've never heard Lincoln Chafee sing? Are YOU ever missing out! That is one Senator who can take a song and make it his own!
Chaffe is in an untenable position.
He could jump ship and land right in the toilet.
Jeffords jumping got the Democrats back in power in the senate and it got him a bunch of recognition at least till the Republicans took it back in 1992. Jeffords has not been heard of since.
Chaffe jumping would accomplish nothing and would cost him his position on any committee.
I know many of us don't like him (myself included)but I would rather have a RINO that votes with us 55% of the time, instead of a DIM that votes with us none of the time.
I agree. If you want to be the majority party, you must learn to accommodate the middle. The Democrats had no use for the DLC and now they are reduced to calling the winners names.
Don't know whether it's true or not, as I always take TAS' Prowler with a grain of salt. But right after the midterm, he had an article about Jeffords making offers about returning to the GOP in exchange for a committee chairmanship.
Great Point, I agree.
Sometimes you don't have a choice. This is one of those times in which you have to put up with an annoying roommate until you can find a more suitable replacement.
Same goes with Specter for now.
I don't disagree, and I think it's great if Frist and the rest of the GOP caucus told Jumpin' Jim to go do something anatomicaly impossible. As it is, so long as Arlen Spector is denied that chairmanship of the Judiciary, they could make John McCain GOP leader and I would be happy. Well not really, but you get the idea. ;^)
No problem. He's up for reelection -- he needs to be sent packing.
By allowing him to "stay" a Republican, he could become a plant for the Demoncats. Any Republican that would be so quick to jump to another party doesn't deserve any respect period.
I understand fully...
