I had a raccoon jump on my head once. I don't know what hurt more, scrathes from the 'coon or the bumps on my head from my brother trying to knock him off my head with his rifle butt.

This does happen, now and then. A friend of mine was attacked by a deer. Their hooves are sharp as knives and they lash out with their feet like a blow from a lance. He also got cut up pretty badly.
