'Alexander' Review (Oliver Stone, Anthony Hopkins, Christopher Plummer) Its 'Shockingly Bad..'
AICN ^ | 11/10/04 | Morarity

Just got home from watching 'Alexander' up at the Directors Guild of America proceeded by a Q & A session with Oliver Stone. Stone said that he just finished the film on Friday and in my opinion it looks like he just rushed out out the door.

In brief, I was stunned by how bad this movie was. Overacting, bizzaro camera work, lackluster battles..God, it was just a mess.

Compared to it, 'Troy' (from this year) is the academy award winning 'Gladiator,' and the 1970's TV series 'I Claudius' is looking better all the time.

Stone may be trying to make a parallel to George Bush's fiasco in Iraq but it's clumsy and heavy handed.

All in all, a shockingly bad film from people who should know better. Wasted talent, wasted money and wasted technology.

Can't wait for the historian V Hanson to pick it apart. He already mentioned that it was free of any historical precedence.

AICN is a fairly useless website and I refuse to even click on the link. However it was pretty obvious from the commericals that this movie was going to be awful

Jolies' accent....ugh.

You can tell how bad the movie is just from the preview. Horribly bad acting in just about every scene shown. The best performance is by the elephant.

So, I guess no academy award for Oliver Stone, once again?

Are apolitical film reviews a thing of the past?

Let's boycott ALL first-run movies!!!
Nobody pays 8$ to see this tripe.
Wouldn't this be a way to get the attention
of the Hollyweird lib elite?

George Bush's fiasco in Iraq

Are you reviewing the movie and the war in Iraq? While the movie ended after 2 hours the war is ongoing

I never watched that one. I just remember seeing the commercials and thinking "There is no way in hell I can buy Al Pacino as an NFL head coach!"

Was he at all believable in the role?

The over-acting of Pacino made me ill.
