Delightful news.

6-9 months later than I would have liked, by delightful nonetheless.

I've seen a reference to an A-10, but the reporter may not have known what he was talking about.

1 - ON TV - I saw a picture of seveeral of our GI's in Iraq holding a small plane, it was only about 18" wing span, and the TV just passed over it, uncommented, as they reviewed a series of pictures of the war.

I'm guessing the EC is for electronic warfare.

7 - "Load-em up, move-em out, raw hide!"

Back during the Vietnam war, we had a Spectre squadron at our base in Thailand, which was spectacularly sucessful. And their themesong was "Ghost Rider's in the Sky". After a while, it caused such a ruckus of enthusiasm, particularly when played in the clubs on base, that the Wing Commander had to ban the song, just to preserve some order amoung the troops.

I guess "Ghost Riders" is an obvious song for this baby, because I just looked at the picture of inside the AC-130 and that was the song that popped up in my head.

The TERRORISTS take over airliners with BOXCUTTERS.

Crash them into the WTC.

Now this

is what we call revenge. We use model airplanes to find terrorists hiding in Fallujah and call down strikes from the air, the sea, the land, with precision hits.

Actually Texas Instruments Technology. The TI Defense group was bought out by Raytheon after the Javelin work was mostly complete. I knew several folks who worked on the design of the Javelin. Many of them also worked on the Bunker Buster laser guided bomb designed during the first Gulf War, as well as the modified version for carriage by the F-117. (TI also built the IR set for the F-117) I worked for TI during the buyout (and about 20 years before), but then RatCo laid me off.

You wouldn't happen to know where that test took place, would you?
