My dad used to manage a gas station, that's what they were in the 50's when he had his, and he would bet people $5 that they could not ignite gas in the bottom of a bucket using nothing but the cigarette they were smoking.

I have heard that if one throws a lighted match into a cold can of gasoline, it will go out and sink to the bottom. It someone tries the same trick with a with a hot can of gas, it will be the last match that they throw. So maybe the temperatures of both the cigarette and the gas are part of the trick.

My only guess is that she was getting some kind of high from it!?!? Other than that it's pretty repulsive.

Damn, this is a bad day to quit sniffing propane.

Now, now, don't get in a huff.

"Almost-Darwin-Award" nominee??

These folks don't even come close.

I liked the one about the guy that tried to get drunk
by drinking gasolene, it made him sick so he threw up
into the fireplace. Bad Idea, there was a FIRE burning
there, the whole house caught on fire and he achieved
a DA.

Several years ago, three young men were sniffing the fumes of a propane tank while sitting in a parked car so none of the fumes would escape. After a while, one decided he wanted a cigarette. When he lit his cigarette, he blew all the glass out of the car. All three people lived but had burns as a result of their mishap.

Well, it HAS been over 50 years since I saw dad win money that way so I don't recall if the gas was hot or cold. Actually, he would just grab one of the buckets that were out by the gas pumps and pump about an inch or two of gas into it. This was Okeechobee, FL, and in the summer the temperature would have been upwards of 97 degrees and the gas pump would be in the direct sunlight, so I doubt the gas was cold, or even cool. I'm pretty busy right now, but if YOU want to get a bucket, some gas and a cigarette to test the bet I'll be anxiously awaiting your report on the outcome, or the report of your next of kin as the case may be.
