Hidalgo County Democratic Party chair says many Hispanic choices will emerge for 2006.
A top Rio Grande Valley Democrat has warned state party leaders not to try to impose 2006 statewide candidates on grassroots activists.
Hidalgo County Democratic Party Chair Juan Maldonado made his comments after reading newspaper reports that the departure of six Texas Democrats from Congress had created a pool of candidates for statewide races in 2006.
All six ex-congressmen are Anglos. Maldonado said there were excellent minority candidates too.

Could it be that Stenholm and Frost will oppose each other in a gubernatorial primary? Also outgong Congressman Jim Turner of East TX is said to be interested in challenging the Republicans for the governorship in 2006.
Oh, that should be fun!
We could watch Frosty self-destruct yet again!
Then maybe he'll run for dogcatcher somewhere, and we can whip his butt at that too!
