To the Editor:
Leon Klinghoffer, our father, was one innocent civilian among thousands who were murdered under the rule of Yasir Arafat and the P.L.O. As a family who has unfortunately been touched by Mr. Arafat's terrorism, we find that our only solace in his death is that he cannot kill anyone ever again.
It is mind-boggling that some would view him as a diplomat, martyr, hero and even a peacemaker. This is definitely not how we know him to be. To us, Mr. Arafat will always be a murderer and a terrorist; and one less terrorist on this earth is a good thing.

As someone posted that day, Arafart's family grave plot is nothing more than a trash heap, he couldn't even spend a few bucks to keep that up. He gave a rat's @$$ about nobody but himself and his power, and the dumb schmucks he ripped off, kept in squalor, and brainwashed to hate and murder Jews *worship* him. The world's gone nuts. I hope the filthy little pr**k bought himself a good sturdy coal shovel on the way down, he's going to need it.

There is no doubt in my mind that you are correct in each instance that the predecessor dictator was better than the successor. But that is not in any way shape or form disputing the fact that they were in fact dictators. Nominal adherence to a constitution doesn't transmute a dictator whose police kill his political opponents into some kindly elected official.
I don't understand why you feel compelled to defend them. Any more than I would feel compelled to defend that bastard in Pakistan. He may be our bastard, but he's still a bastard.
Leon Klinghoffer absolutely embodies terrorist ideals. They are cowards, who will avoid going after anyone who might fight back, and instead murder helpless old men and children.
It must be terrible for Mr. Klinghoffer's daughters to see not only that their father's murderer died a natural, peaceful death, but that he is glorified as some sort of hero. May God grant them strength during this difficult time.
Yes, the KGB did. They also pumped a lot of money, time, and effort into building a heroic public image of Arafat that, unfortunately, too many useful idiots swallowed. There was an interesting thread on it not long ago, an article by a former Romanian KGB officer who was tasked (before he defected) with creating an image for Arafat. I wish I could post a link to it, but I'm not that good with HTML.
Thank goodness these ladies can tell it like it is. It must be terrible having to hear the mainstream news call someone responsible for your family member's death a freedom fighter.

Myself, I am also surprised he lasted this long, I figured back in the 1970's somebody would have "capped" Arafat and he would wind up "sleeping with the fishes" to the point that even the disco fad would outlive him. He should be bunkmates with Jimmy Hoffa under Tiger Stadium if the Mossad had its way. B-P
I'd much prefer to have had W say: "May God have as much mercy on his (Arafat) soul as he commanded his (Arafat) goons to have on Israelis."
