| After decades of trying to fight social problems with ever more tolerance, the Dutch are at a loss before terrorism. Queen Beatrix limited her involvement to visiting immigrant kids at a Moroccan "youth center." This was hardly what public opinion was clamoring for. At this point, the Dutch seem more inclined to move from Live and Let Live to its opposite, and are calling for laws that make the Patriot Act look like Kumbayah. |

Most Dutch see Muslims as a threat -- My friends there tell me Moslems there hate the Dutch and everything about them . They simply USE them and their beautiful country .They have totally hijacked Belgium these days .Belguim is a MOSLEM country , I was amazed when I visited last year .

I feel no sympathy for you, killer tells van Gogh family --
Some spectators rose to their feet, visibly stunned by his comments. The confession and lack of remorse highlight the worst fears haunting mainstream Dutch society about the seemingly unbridgeable gap between them and some of the alienated Muslim youths growing up in the country.

Dutch virtue of tolerance under strain -- Today, there are about 1.7 million "non-Western" immigrants or their children in the Netherlands, more than 10 percent of a population of 16.3 million. Close to one million are Muslims. 10% seems to be the "point of no return."
