WOMEN have compared chocolate to sex for decades. Now doctors have discovered a scientific link between the two.
According to Italian researchers, women who eat chocolate regularly had the highest levels of desire, arousal and satisfaction from sex. But for men, the findings of a British study were not so good.
In the chocolate/sex study, urologists from Milan's San Raffaele hospital questioned 163 women about their consumption of chocolate and their sexual fulfilment.
"Women who have a daily intake of chocolate showed higher levels of desire than women who did not have this habit," the study found. "Chocolate can have a positive physiological impact on a woman's sexuality."
Dr Andrea Salonia, author of the study - funded by a university, not by the confectionery industry - said women who had a low libido could become more amorous after eating chocolate.
She believes chocolate could be particularly medicinal for women who shun sex because they are suffering from premenstrual tension.
"Chocolate is not like a food, it's like a drug," Dr Salonia said. "Women who suffer mood swings as a result of their menstrual cycle may also suffer a dip in their sexual function. I strongly believe eating chocolate may improve their sexual function."
The research also looked at smoking and coffee consumption, but found no links with sexual enjoyment. From The Sunday Times of London
Definitely the case with my girlfriend .... absolutely no question.
"Unbridled appetite will be the ruin of us all."
You can't think we should abstain from chocolate until married?
'Course, this does explain why chocolate's always been my favorite flavor.
Makes perfect sense to me. All those cravings...and feelings of utter satisfaction when done. Mmmmmmmm!
I'll give it a try . Thanks for the suggestion and info. I believe Americans, raised on the Hershey Bar, have expectations for their chocolate. Good to try older original versions.
Stay safe !
Hitched, I prefer to call it.
Who, what group, in the 1950s had a hit record with a song a went 'Choco-choco- choco-latta...'?
Go ahead, google it, suckah!
OK, what are the best low-carb chocolates?
And preferably ones that aren't full of sugar alcohol since that tends to give you the runs.
I mean fruit and nut chocolate not fruit and nut with the panic over Cheney on Saturday I eat a large family bar
running the 3 legged race by yourself!

,,, "caramello tripod".
Have you ever given a "cookie bouquet"?
Those are awesome!
Just now getting back from work and reading your suggestion. Sounds yummy to me; I'm investigating.
My husband heard this on Rush this afternoon. Guess that's why I got a large box of European chocolate covered cherries this evening. lol
I love fruit and nut bars too. I love caramel chocolate bars and oh phooey....if it's chocolate I LOVE it.
I love Cadbury's but all I had was a supermarket brand but seeing the state I was in it would have been a waste of Cadbury's.
Hope Dick was well enough to go back to work today America needs him fit and well.
You make it sound scrumptious! Dark, bittersweet chocolate is my favorite. Truly good chocoloate melts in your mouth if it contains no paraffin.
Ever been fooled into thinking Baker's Chocolate Squares taste as good as they look? :o)
It is. They are famously selective in the beans they buy, paying something like 3x over market average. But the quality really shines in the flavor. You can actually taste the rich complex fruit flavor in the dark chocolate, not the bland cocoa-y taste most chocolate has. Really a cut above any other chocolate I've tasted.

Once, when I was a kid. I made off with it on the sly. For some reason, my mother was forgiving about the whole incident... :-)
There is a great chain called Cookies By Design. You can request a catalog or go online. They are everywhere.
Let me know what you think.
LOL! My experience was identical. I just popped one in my mouth and had to continue eating it because my brother and sisters were watching. Mom got a kick out of watching my face. I think I'm going to have to find some of that Scharffenberger's and give it to myself for Christmas to make up for the Baker's Squares episode. :o)
I will issue a complete after action report, D6. Thanks for the idea!!
Your spouse will be very grateful.
Wish my husband would send me one! :)
I checked them out. They look great -- some nice Thanksgiving-themed ones. I know some likely recipients --but not my wife right now, she's in serious diet mode and I NEVER interrupt that. She'll have to settle for the flowers, and maybe some basketball tickets (hee hee). And you tell your husband to get on the stick, or we'll get the FR enforcers on his case. You know, we're here to keep families functioning smoothly!! Thanks again, D6.
