The joke on all of us is that there is so much 'stuff' on FR nowadays that it is possible to pass up entire major subjects -- much less an acronym or ten... '-)

Even more amazing is how seldom these "blow-up" occur esp. inlight of how safety standards have been lowered in many places despite propaganda to the contrary.

As another poster mentioned, if safety guidelines were not followed
(like the ones at the gas pumps. Do not use cell phone, extinguish all cigarettes, do not get in and out of the car and then touch pump, etc)
then it is very likely it was a discharge of static electricity, or something very similar.
