PsyWar: Jazeera questions Marine spokesperson about 'executed' Iraqis dragged behind US tanks
AlJazeera ^ | 16 Nov 04 | Jazeera and 'agencies'

Posted on 11/16/2004 10:12:14 PM PST by ganeshpuri89

In an interview with Aljazeera, US marine spokesperson 1st Lieutenant Lyle Gilbert responded to the killing of the wounded man in the Falluja mosque.

"I was not there and have no more information. The pictures were shown on TV but they did not reveal the circumstance that preceded the incidence. We will know after the investigation finishes.

"We the US forces abide by the combat laws and consider ourselves at the top level of accountability."

In response to reports by Falluja residents that US forces had executed injured Iraqis and dragged them behind US tanks Gilbert said: "I will not talk about this issue. The US together with Iraqi forces confronted the terrorists in Falluja. The forces are there to clean the city from rebels and terrorists, regain stability and security in Iraq, and to hold elections so the Iraqi children can play in playgrounds," he said.

Not just Iraqis who were 'executed' but 'injured' Iraqis who were 'executed' then dragged behind tanks.

WTF? This is the lowest dirtiest journalism I have yet to see. Introduce propaganda by asking about an unsubstantiated claim.

I'm shocked but not surprised.

Thank you Kevin Sites. You should have turned your tape over to Marine authorities if you suspected wrongdoing. But you were more concerned with a scoop than the truth. Thanks alot.

Apparently Jazeera is just another lying Muslim group. Muslims for some reason are unable to tell the truth about much of anything.

Actually it might be a good idea to drag bomb-killed terrorists behind tanks with a big sign on them "this is what happens if you attack us." This jab by Jaz sounds mighty lukewarm to me - sounds like they are bowing to the inevitable.

Sites knew what the enemy MSM would do with this footage. I understand that Brokaw was his mentor. If Sites is embedded with anyone, it's the enemy.

This sort of thing is on Al-Jazeera everyday, they are nothing more than the communications wing of Islamist Terrorists. This is why they keep getting kicked out of Iraq.

Falluja residents - Now those people's words are worth what - ?

Come on - people who hang with terrorist are just as suspect as the terrorist themselves - if you ask me.

Perhaps someone should put a bug in Sec. of Def. Rums. ear -Get the corrupt media out of Iraq - before they cause any more harm to our troops -

Dragged by are tanks? What a waste.
We'd rather use their guts to grease the treads
of our tanks! (Now where did I here that one from?)

In an interview with Aljazeera, US marine spokesperson 1st Lieutenant ....

Why is Al-Jazeera not considered an enemy combatant?

I wonder if their free roam in Iraq will continue once the new elements of the continuing administration take hold.
{bye-bye "rouge" elements in the State Dept or the CIA? }

Consider how we dealt with domestic seditionists just 86 years ago.

I think I have counted at least a dozen of these suggestions in the threads in these topics. Why people are not above such shame is a mystery to me. Were such a press fragging to actually happen, the resulting commotion would make Mt. St. Helens look like a backyard barbecue.

I'm getting sick and tired of the MSM and their anti-American bias. I listened about that crap on the radio all day today and came home with knots in my shoulders and neck. I'm about to go postal, that man is a hero for what he's doing over there. The middle eastern whackjob gene pool could use a lot more culling IMHO.

An ancient practice reminiscient of Achilles on his chariot dragging Hector around Troy. ;-)

Good point plus dragging them behind also covers the tracks of the tank so they cant be followed.

Yes, it was repealed by congress within 2 years, and it only applied during time of war.

I think it should be used as non-legal baseline for what passes as acceptable behavior.

Did the US soldier drag a dead Iraqi behind a tank? I have no idea, but it would not surprise me.

I neither condone nor condemn this. War suspends morality and reality as we perceive it. Survival based on pure aggression leads to this type of behavior -- ON BOTH SIDES. Place young men, still emotionally immature in a combat situation, and they will act this way.

Anyone who survives combat -- especially urban guerilla warfare -- should be given a pension for life. They have done and seen enough.
