Network News Chiefs Worry About Fox News Channel (Bwahahahahaha!!!!!)
IMDb.com ^ | 11-17-04

Posted on 11/17/2004 6:46:48 PM PST by Paul Atreides

The news presidents of ABC, CBS and NBC all agree that the rise of the Fox News Channel poses a threat to their organizations. Appearing on a panel at Stanford University Monday night, CBS News President Andrew Hayward remarked, "Fox has added an important new ingredient to the news system: they mix news and opinion. ... Fox is a blend of news and talk radio on TV. That is a powerful dimension." As reported in the college newspaper Stanford Daily on Tuesday, each of the news chiefs voiced similar concerns. Said ABC News President David Westin: "The problem is when news and opinion are mashed together. ... It is starting to push out the truth telling, which is undermining our core mission. We have to keep the central goal telling the truth as we see it." Each of the executives said that they now must deal with public preconceptions that may clash with the actual facts. NBC News President Neal Shapiro observed that the network had presented military experts who maintained that there wouldn't be enough troops in Iraq to pacify the country following the invasion. "This didn't seem to resonate with the American people." Westin agreed, noting that polls show "that an alarming number of people still believe there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq."

As opposed to our own stations, where we never provide any news to balance out our leftist indoctrination sessions.

"Fox has added an important new ingredient to the news system: they mix news and opinion..."

...which are clearly differentiated/identified.

As opposed to the networks, which mix news and opinion and call it "news".

I done with 'em all.
I still could take the weekend version of NBC News with John Siegenthaler.

But this Sites incident has just about ended my watching of MSM news.

Until Nov. 2008, if Dan Rather gets to do the CBS News election-night coverage!

NBC/GE stabs the Marines in the back.

ABC/Disney stabbed John O'Neill (Swifty) in the back and ABC also portrays Christian housewives as whores in Desperate Housewives. The blond who portrays a whore always has a big cross on which is ABC anti-Christian subliminal message.

That's it exactly! They have NO idea that their own so called news reports are nothing more than opinion. They still don't get it. It's not that FNC is so conservative, it's that the alphabet channels are so liberal, so opinionated that anything to the right of that looks conservative.

Fox has added an important new ingredient to the news system: they mix news and opinion.

Unlike CNN & MSNBC? The difference is that FoxNews at least acknowledges the existence of a conservative viewpoint. & yes, Mr. ABC, people like me actually believe that there were WMD in Iraq (& that most of them are now in Syria & Lebanon).

Ah, I think that I see the problem now. The public's preconceptions are clashing with their "actual facts". Including the fabricated ones, the distortions and the forgeries. It *does* get quite confusing.

Free Republic offers a glimpse into the way news will be received in the future.

A transcript of a speech is posted. Freepers add context and background. This allows for the data to be analyzed and filtered. What is left after input is generally a fact based analysis giving the reader an opportunity to make informed decisions on the event.

The MSM has been reduced to 30 second sound bites. They will never be able to offer what Free Republic or other free flowing internet sites offer. They could come close if they would just present unmassaged data, but they won't. They still believe the people just can't handle it. That is their biggest mistake. People do get it and in getting it realize how much they do not need the MSM anymore.

Today Fox covered one of the most important scandals of our time, the hearings of the Oil for Food UN scandal where Saddam stole billions and used it to pay terrorists.

CNN, meanwhile, had not one mention of it. But they did cover the nice exhibits in Bill Clinton's library.

When the MSM can't tell the difference between opinion and slanting the news, its no wonder they are on their way out.

"... mix news and opinion..." The difference is you can tell on FOX, because the "opinion" programs (O'Reilly or Hannity & Comes) are billed as such. The rest of the MSM mixes opinion INTO the news... and they will settle for mixing news into opinion, if they must.

In psche circles its called projection. The left is so unaware that they do it, yet another symptom of delusion. Because they ernestly believe that conservatives are evil and underhanded they feel justified in doing anything to win...which smells of desperation...which is a turn-off to most.

How Dare FOX report the news the news the way THEY SEE IT, especially if it contradicts the Liberal establishment.

I've been openly hard on FOX lately, and named them a part of the MSM, but they aren't hypocritical in the sense the MSM are. At least you know where their people stand when they are bringing you the news. They aren't trying to manipulate the public by denying they have a natural bias.

Oh, and I'm one of those alarming numbers that contiues to question the existence of WMD's. We've found small numbers of WMD's, numerous country's and agencies cited proof of their existence in large quantity, Saddam believed they existed, they used them in past and he showed every inclination to restart the program, they had years to hide them or move to a friendly country, and advance notice of imminent invasion to dispense with them.

If they didn't exist, prove it. Don't just tell me your OPINIONS, document the discrepancies that leave this an open question and invaildate them with hard proof.
