Katie Couric and John Edwards are disgusting
NBC Today Show

Katie Couric supposedly was going to interview Elizabeth Edwards (and John Edwards) about her breast cancer but instead ended up concentrating on that "difficult and disappointing loss" to President Bush. Lightweight John Edwards also said that Bush has "no mandate" and "The election was so close" and he gave up his seat but "will continue to fight to move America forward" implying that Bush will stampede his program to hurt America (I was vomiting violently by this time) . Kouric continued to talk about that loss (I was repulsed by Katie's dramatic emphasis on syllables for effect) while Johnny tried to talk about his "struggle" with his wife's illness. Stay tuned because these people, especially the Old Media, cannot deal with reality and their rejection by the American people

Katie: You must be devastated about your LOSS to President Bush.
John: Yes, the LOSS was hard on us but blahblahblah
Katie: We were all devastated when you LOST
I just love hearing the word.

You lost your seat. You not only lost your seat, but the voters gave it to the GOP.

And did you see Ann COulter slam Bob Beckel in "Hannity and Colmes"???? He imploded like Larry O"DOnnell!!!!

Beckel had the nerve to call John O'Neil a disgusting liar (or, something equivalent). These people don't know when to let a sleeping dog alone. If they keep it up, they are going to cause something bad enough to turn up, that even Massachusetts will be forced to vote out their lame awol junior senator.

The election was so close. Poor baby. And if a few thousand votes had shifted in OH or some other state and given the victory to Kerry and Edwards, but they still lost the nationwide vote by 3 million, what would they be saying then?? The Dems and the media would be saying of course they have a mandate. That would have been total bull.
I will predict Edwards will do even worse in '08 than Lieberman did this year. Lieberman at least remained visible in the Senate. Edwards will be off the map after January. VP losers rarely seem to get a second chance.

Re: When did the colors reverse?
I believe that blue used to be the color used for the incumbent. But, the MSM & Republicans used reference to "Red States" so much after the 2000 election that the colors will probably always refer as they did in 2000 & 2004. Coined.

Perot was/is scum...Just so. You'll also note not a single electoral vote for the scum, the fundamental flaw of third-party Presidential candidates, now and forever (with the exception of George Wallace, who racked up 46 of them back in 1968.)

"Perot was scum"
I, of course, disagree. I also disagree that Nader is scum, or any third party candidate. What these candidates do is keep the 2 parties HONEST. If the republicans start leaning too far to the left, they'll anger a majority of their base (who will stay home), and the fringe lefties and so-called "moderates" will drift to the 3rd party candidate. This means that the party is out of touch, uncommunicative, taking its members for granted. Same goes with Nader and the dems. The dems lost touch with their message and many folks went green in 2001. In 2004, the dems got back on-message and the green party stole less votes. Granted, the dem message sucks, but I'm not talking about the quality of the message, only the ability of the two parties to stick to their guns on things.

What these candidates do is keep the 2 parties HONEST.Rubbish. What keeps the main parties honest is a balance in the political center of gravity -- that's because unlike quixotic third-party candidates, the majors run for a whole slate of offices, from local to national. Thus, they must compile some kind of overall party philosophy or ideology in order to govern.
The only possible good thing a third party can accomplish is placing some item on the national agenda that otherwise might not receive the attention it deserves. For Wallace in 68, it was "law and order"; for Perot in 92, it was a balanced budget. That's the only real legacy a third party Presidential candidate leaves, and in some cases, they don't leave even that (e.g., John Anderson in '80).

"Rubbish"
3rd party candidates are like prophets - in times of trouble, they rise up and shake castles from the sky, expose various emperors as naked and generally put people in power on notice that we won't tolerate their BS. You can call it rubbish if you'd like, but you do so at your peril.
