It's an animal conspiracy.
I did get more deer with my truck one year than I got with a rifle.......
A real bumper crop per se........:o)
LOL!
I still love that pic with the dead hunters.
I don't get it...lol.
I don't know why they don't extend deer season, or up the amount of deer that can be taken.
Two of the 8 were in my county.
Playing with my new V3 Cell phone this evening.....a perk from my employer. I can't believe how small these things have got. I remember the old motorola brick cellular w/ a big 8 inch antenna. We thought that was just too kewl back then.
The new motorola V3 razer is the size of a credit card and maybe a half inch thick. Very nice form an function....I was gonna hold out for the smallest version from Casio G-Shock but the price was right on this one......:o)
I can even freep on it's web browser........too Kewl of a tewl !!
Stay safe !
OK...
I've hit a few...Missed an awful lot more...Got hit by 2...But then I'm on the road a lot...
Deer are certainly unpredictable...When you see one on the side of the road, you of course slow down...Because you learn that for reasons unknown, the deer is just as likely to dart across in front of you as he/she is to go off into the woods, even as they watch you approaching...And if one just ran across in front of you, there may be one or more right behind it that you haven't seen yet...
One thing that has worked for me everytime so far, (when I remember) is whether I'm approaching a deer on the side of the road, or if I crest a hill and a deer is starting to move into the road, I lay on the horn...I don't just beep it a couple of times, I lay right on it til I'm past the area where the deer was...
Everytime so far, the noise has scared or irritated the deer enough for him/her to change direction and move away from the road (knock on wood)...
So if anyone here reads this, maybe it will help them also...
they've gotten even twice on me in 7 years....so far.
I'm still way ahead though.
Thank you everyone for filling me in. I live in Central FL and I do get out away from the city - we like to camp, but despite the fact that we do see deer in some of the state parks and county parks, I have never seen a deer that was hit by a car. I wonder if it is a problem in FL.
There are probably 30 deer in the alfalfa field about 100 feet from my house right now. People drive way to fast in areas with high deer populations. I try to drive slow through these areas and some moron is always getting on it.
About twenty-six years ago, my first wife and I were driving on our vacation through Western Ontario from Thunder Bay to Fort Frances. It was a lonely drive - other cars were few and far between. We saw a car pulled over to the side of the road with its flashers on, so we stopped to see if we could be of assistance. The people in the other car said that no assistance was required, that they had stopped to see the moose. Sure enough, there was a dead moose on the side of the road.
It seems that a young couple driving through earlier had hit this moose. The moose (which weighed 1200 pounds) went over the hood, through the windshield and landed in their laps. The OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) had come by later and put the poor moose out of its misery. The young couple from Manitoba were in the hospital and their car (a Chevy Impala) was totaled. Their story was made even sadder since the young couple was on their honeymoon.
Those critters are plentiful around here. I, thankfully, have not hit one with a vehicle. We try to help with herd reduction...... What I have never understood is why so many people swerve to avoid hitting whatever animal is in the road. Most of the time, it is better to hit it than to swerve. My husband's cousin was killed because he swerved.
I used to live in Florida, and it wasn't much of a problem until you get into the northern parts of the state. Hitting a FL deer, though, is like hitting a dog as compared to the size of deer in other parts of the country.
Some roads in FL have fences all along the way. The one I noticed the most was I-10 up by Tallahassee.

LOL!
Well, you're just a deer murderer I reckon.
I really must find Squantos's pic of the dead hunters
with the LIVING deer. I liked it.
