ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (AP) -- A gunman fatally shot two people and wounded a third inside a Radio Shack store
at a strip mall Thursday night, then shot himself to death, police said.

Another customer and an employee managed to escape uninjured from the store at the Gateway Shopping Center, police spokesman Bill Proffitt said.

Police did not identify the gunman, but police spokesman George Kajtsa said the man "had some mental issues, according to his family."

"He was involved in some kind of a road rage incident today that the Pinellas County Sheriff's Department is investigating," Kajtsa said. He had no other details, other than that the incident occurred well before the evening shootings.

Proffitt said investigators did not know the gunman's motive or whether he knew his victims. The Tampa Tribune previously reported that the gunman was a former Radio Shack employee, but Proffitt could not confirm that.continues...

Last time I went in, Dubya's father was Prez.

I told the salesman my name was George Bush and my address was 1600 Pennslyvania Avenue, Washington, DC.

He input the info...without batting an eyelash.

He was Middle Eastern.

Oh yea, just love standing on those four hour lines at Fry's! We have Radio Shacks too. They're good when you just freakin need a battery or adapter or something fast.

I think managers have to work 80 hours a week. I think they have turnover issues.

I will not go in to one, just for that reason.

I don't think they do that anymore. But you're still better off not going back.

Also be careful buying any software from Fry's. It appears that they are re-shrink wrapping returned software for re-sale. They are also selling defective second line software.

There is a strict exchange only policy for Fry's software which means if you buy a faulty inoperable program which is alleged to be appropriate for your system's operating system, Fry's will only exchange it for the same inoperable software.

I bought a $40 program for my operating system after listening to one of Fry's so-called "IT" experts ramble on for an hour why that particular program was the best and worth the money.

The CD appeared to be new, but it did not work at all. I waited one hour for a supervisor to hear my complaint at Fry's return counter. The supervisor explained the strict no-return policy, but then I suggested that they try the CD on one of their computers.

I waited another half hour while the Fry's supervisor attempted to load the program and get it running.

When he could not load the program, the Fry's supervisor said "we'll make a one-time only exception in this case and give you store credit. Just don't tell anyone."

Have to wonder if this is one of those "gun free", criminal empowerment zone malls.

I just got a seasonal job at the Shack. Managers have P/L responsibility. If they know their merchandise and keep their crew productive, the commissions are very good if the store is in a good location.

Florida's law enforcement is the BARNEY FIFE VARIETY, especially PINELLAS COUNTY.

My cousin, the one who drove a lawn mowing company into the ground, is now a deputy in some county in Florida.

"A 3.5mm stereo to 1/4" stereo adapter? Sure, here's one"

"No, that's not the right one. Neither of those ends is a 3.5mm stereo."

Hmmmm, I know we have one around here someplace."

"Arrrrrgggggg."

My dad interviewed with them for a management position once, when he was desperate for work, and got a speech about "you have to work X number of hours and you can't have these days off and blah blah blah and you have to work real hard and I'll see if in a couple of years you are doing good I might be able to get you promoted so you can run your own ripoff Shack"

He was a radar tech in the A.F. has a degree in physics and has run more than one manufacturing plant and some guy with acne problems and has to date his left hand on weekends was giving him a speech about "see above". I thought it was funny then but now that I have a couple of years under my belt I get the feeling he had a lot of self control not to put the kid over his knee and spank him.

the shooter had a two outbursts of "road rage" -- aggressive and violent, not just flipping someone off -- prior to heading off the the nearest Radio Shack for target practice.

my thought on learning this was that, were there more people who valued their second ammendment rights (you know, who were taught to value it as a right and an obligation for able bodied citizens to bear arms) then perhaps the people whose cars he wailed on might have stopped him, or at least put the fear of God in him, before he killed two innocent people and put another in critical condition.

If, that is, people weren't taught that government run domestic law enforcement is their daddy.

I've fumed about Pinellas Co law enforcement extensively, and the court system to a lesser extent. I'm an honest, professional white male -- never been a trouble maker -- and I've had enough experiences with the "system" to fill a book. Pinellas is hopelessly corrupt, the sherrif's deputies indulge in too many steroids, watch too much "crime scene" and court tv. Juges and lawyers are so in bed with each other it's plainly obvious.

Taken together, they're dangerous, overzealous, and unstable.

According to today's paper, his mom told the Sheriff's that her son was probably on the way to the Shooting Range. IMO, the mother knew that he had a weapon. Why no APB? The local law enforcement is always MOPPING UP instead of pursuing. As I noted in my post, imo, he was ANGRY white male category rather than an islamic extremist. The last name had kind of a foreign flair to it. I have nothing against white males. He indeed was an ANGRY one.

Pinellas County has no leadership paying attention. Charlie Crist is from here. I wonder if he will weigh in on this mass killing. The remaining victim if he survives WILL BE BLIND.

The guy's mom was interviewed about the road rage wherein no charges were pressed and she told the sheriffs that he was "probably on his way to go Target Shooting." Well, she was close. Radio Shack is a few doors down from Target.

Why no APB if they thought there was an armed man on the loose? There was no APB, just the aftermath footage of bodies being removed by ambulance. The girl and the one fellow died of wounds to the abdomen. The girl called her mom to say goodbye and that she knew she was going to die. The fellow was also alive when transported.

One remains, the Radio Shack assistant manager.

WHY NOT PICK UP ON THE CLUE FROM MOM THAT HE WAS GOING TO TARGET PRACTICE?

Further, in March, law enforcement rejected his application to become a cop... WHERE WAS THE APB? There wasn't one. I lived on the street where the road rage started and the cross street was where the shootings/murders occurred.

He probably chose Radio Shack because it is medium sized and there's a section in the back where they have two walls for merchandise. He probably knew he could go in there in a small area where there was nowhere for people to run but rather, they were trapped.

That store was in a great location by a Target, a Publix grocery, a Petsmart, a Party City, other stores I can't remember BECAUSE I MOVED FAR AWAY FROM THERE.

the clerk of the court, recently elected, says he homeschools his children. Can't recall his name, but that should bring an interesting -- maybe even a balanced -- perspective to a meaningless position.

Everett Rice is a freak, from what I hear. Judging by the demeanor of the sheriff's dept, in light of the principal that leadership makes the organization, I must conclude that he is indeed a sick fellow. Only now he gets to be a representative of the people. this place is under some kind of curse.

Ken Burke's the new clerk. I've met him and told him if he ever ran for POTUS, he had my vote. He's going to be the only outsider we'll have. I think that's why he won the election. People were yearning for a talented outsider.

He can audit any and all judges whenever he wants to. He's a CPA for starters and Karleen DeBlaker was warming a chair for the past five to ten years. He'll be a vast improvement, benefiting all.

The shooter was a student at USF = jihad U of sammi alarian(?) and betty castor (D beat in run for FL Senate in Nov.). My guess he was upset about his islam brothers getting killed and betty's election loss.

Actually, last I heard, the positions at Radioshack are retail sales positions - just because you can build a TV/cell-phone/dvd-player doesn't mean you can sell one! Not to mention salesmen/women with _too_much_ knowledge probably just confuse the customers! (I'm sure this is why they want to check people out first, before handing them the keys to a store)
