One of ESPN's announcer, John Saunders I believe related "if someone throws a beer at you, it might be hard to hold back." Also, such might be assault.
Artest, Wallace, O'Neal, and Jackson all suspended INDEFINITELY, per David Stern, on Fox News and CNN now.
Professional basketball congregates an entire class of criminal in 28 cities.
He wanted the time off anyway; his CD comes out Thursday. Good promotions, I'd say.
Good - I hope indefinite means a long time! LOL about the rap album remark.
>"It was more like fans brawl with Pacers..."<
-Players under NBA rules, are NOT to go into the stands after fans.
Furthemore this melee started on the court. These guys are a bunch of gang-banger-rapstar wanna-bes.
Think not? Artest has a rap album out; his NEW career, because he's suspended indefinitly.
Now he can RAP about bi+c#es and Ho's.
Good riddence.
A pleasant evening for all I guess.
>"I guess the ESPN panel is defending Thugocracy too. They are coming out more on the players side."<
- ESPN is full of liberal, jock sniffing jackasses, and the NBA is full of thugs. If fans are involved in violence, throw them out, and ban them for life, as well.
Why would ESPN defend multi-milliionaire gangsta-rap star wannabe's? Maybe because they want to suck up to them, ya think?
NBA rules strictly forbid players from charging into the stands after fans. If you were making millions of dollars a year to PLAY A GAME...don't you think you could excersise a little self control? These guys...apparently, can't. Artest ought to be banned for life, but he won't be.
Good riddance to him, and the rest of his ilk.
Don't go. don't watch !!!Don't go. don't watch !!!Don't go. don't watch !!!
I was an avid springsteen fan,(30 concerts)after this last year i gave him up..no more bruce for me,i had a chance for a good seat i said NO THANKS.i Boycott french products all of them.it's time the NBA gets the message
"...he said Artest grabbed him, held him to the ground and asked him if he was the one who threw it."
I am not a lawyer but it sure sounds like assault to me. What did Artest expect the guy to say:
Yeh, sure, I was the one.
"NBA rules strictly forbid players from charging into the stands after fans. If you were making millions of dollars a year to PLAY A GAME...don't you think you could excersise a little self control? These guys...apparently, can't. Artest ought to be banned for life, but he won't be.

On Free Republic this past week was interestingly enough, the story of the Spanish fans chanting racial chants.
What the players did is wrong; I doubht if the players will be convicted of any felonies or maybe even anything of a permanent nature.
I've heard exalted on Free Republic too, the Baltimore Colt Mike Curtis who lambasted a fan on the field. Gee Whiz; I thought I saw one of the rabble rousers on the floor near their bench.
"NBA rules strictly forbid players from charging into the stands after fans. If you were making millions of dollars a year to PLAY A GAME."
Gee, so is traveling against the NBA rules, so is charging.
Sorry, that is not what I saw. I saw both teams go berserk. Then they spilled it over to the fans. Both teams need to be shuit out of this season and not allowed to continue.. I have seen this type of sportsmanship twice this year, this one and the presidential election. Phooy on them all.
It's boring to watch morons push balls around. Sorry......
Millionaire morons in their underwear
As a native Hoosier and a Pacers fan, I don't buy the spin. I'm afraid I can't agree to the media spin that "everybody is wrong in this situation," or "no one is a winner." These are all very weak cliches used to try to smooth over a very ugly night by a despicable Detroit Piston organization.
The fact is that the Pacers were attacked by the Detroit Pistons. This is the perspective that people need to realize. First, Artest was punched in the face and neck by an enraged Ben Wallace. Artest demonstrated remarkable restraint by moving away from Wallace as Wallace pursued him in a rage.
Next, the Pistons fans attacked Artest by beginning to hurl objects at him. As such, you now have Artest and the Pacers being attacked from the front (Wallace & Co.) and then being attacked by a mob of 20,000 drunk and out of control fans. What else is Artest supposed to do? He was literally surrounded.
The Piston organization and the NBA can use the tired cliches that "no player should ever leave the bench." But, to paraphrase Coach Carlisle, They were fighting for their lives. We are talking about a mob of 20,000 against a group of around 20 Indiana Pacers.
To say that Ron Artest is to blame for this is simply near sighted and naive. I for one refuse to accpet the cliches and refuse to allow my anger with the NBA and the entire Piston organization to be quelled. I will not accept any blame for this incident and I do not believe any Pacer or any Pacer fan should acknowledge guilt either. On Friday night the Pacer's team was surrounded by a bunch of thugs and punks who were either drunk or just plain bad losers.
Does "every body lose" in this situation? Of course. But the blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the Detroit Pistons and their fans- who are a disgrace to the NBA, the city of Detroit, and the whole of humanity.
I appreciate the fans and players on both sides for reminding us that a middle-aged bimbo dropping her towel in front of Terrell Owens is simply not an issue in the big scheme of things.
Obviously, you didn't see the game, but got your news from the morning papers in Indiana.
I don't excuse anyone in this matter, even Ben Wallace. However, if you'll go back and review the tape, you'll see that it was Artest giving Wallace a flagrant foul that started the whole incident. Wallace threw NO punches; he gave Artest a two handed shove in the chest.
Three comments:
1. Indiana was leading by 15 with under a minute left; the flagrant foul was unnecessary and uncalled for. Classic Artest.
2. Artest silently facing down Wallace after the foul was so much as saying "whatcha gonna do about it."
3. Artest laying on the scorers table pretending to be the innocent in the whole situation taunted everyone that was enraged by his initial foul. I don't excuse the fans, but that sure was a childish move on Artest's part.
Loved the earlier comment..."now he's got the time he wanted to promote his rap album"
Wanna make a wager on that?
1. -I'll bet that Artest is gone from the NBA for good. Lifetime suspension. This ain't his first violent outbreak. He destroyed a TV monitor not too long ago.
Stern is not going to put up with it, as his butt is on the line, as well. People are fed up with the behaviour of players in the NBA, both on and off the court.
2.- I'll also bet that he is arrested, convicted, and maybe even jail time. Not sure about the rest of them, but I'll make this friendly wager with you, about Artest. Ya game?
:)
Besides as a sport, BB is a joke anyway, what talent does it take for a 7' freak to stuff a ball in a 11' basket?
