Texas' average wait is now ~10.5 years.

Yikes! I didn't realize it was still that long . . . time to roll up the sleeves and bounce out some politicos.

Politicos in Texas aren't much of a part of that process. About the only one who does get involved is the guv, and all he does is sign the warrant. Execution dates are set by the judge after all appeals have run their course.

I doubt that the average could (or should) ever be much shorter than that.
