TRENTON - Minutes after four young men robbed a Hiltonia resident of $1,500 cash Sunday night and threatened to rape his teenage daughters, one of the suspects lay dead under the victim's sport utility vehicle on nearby Route 29.
The unidentified young man was killed after he jumped from his car and began shooting at the SUV driven by Robert O'Neal, 54, who had given chase.
O'Neal ran him over, police said. "I didn't mean for this to happen," O'Neal said yesterday, fighting back tears. "I'm a single parent with two daughters. They had my credit cards, my wallet. They knew where I lived."
A union iron worker with Local 68, O'Neal has lived in the Hiltonia section of the city almost two decades.
"This (criminal activity) has got to stop," he said. "If we don't stand up for ourselves, it won't stop."
Detectives said yesterday that the four men robbed O'Neal in front of his home about 9 p.m. Sunday.
The dead man's identity had not been disclosed last night.

LOL!
O'Neal's next tank of gas is on me.
An earlier post of this story, fuller version, said that the father won't be charged.
I've heard of brand loyalty before, but this takes it to a new level.
Wild chase, gunfire turns fatal: Cops: Dad mows down robbery suspect with SUV
TRENTON -- When armed robbers jammed a gun into his face and threatened to rape his two daughters, something snapped, Trenton resident Bob ONeal said yesterday.
"I just couldnt take it anymore," ONeal said. "He put a gun in my face and threatened to rape my kids. Im not having that."
According to police, ONeal jumped into his SUV and chased his attackers after they confronted him in front of his Hiltonia home Sunday night and stole about $1,500 in cash.
The chase ended minutes later, on Route 29, after ONeal allegedly ran over one suspect who fired at him, leaving him dead at the scene.
"I wasnt trying to kill anybody... I just wanted to get the tag number on the car," a visibly-shaken ONeal said. "But they intended to kill me," he added.
Police said the bizarre robbery turned fatality began in front of ONeals Cornwall Avenue home around 9 p.m. Sunday.
Also from that discussion. A picture of the father.

Good for him. He deserves a medal for bravery.
Yeah, unless you've got at least a .44 mag you're just gonna piss 'em off.
Good kill.
?
You may have been right the first time.
Police arrested 19-year-old Kyle Gibson (image above) of Hamilton Township, N.J.. The licensed barber owns and was driving the suspects' car. Police also arrested a 15-year-old, and are seeking a third suspect.
This man did the world a favor. The dead guy's crimes would escalate to rape and murder if he hadn't of been caught. They need to find the other 3 and run over them, too.
Wrong thread or did I miss your point?
The SUV was loyal to the owner instead of the owner being loyal to the brand of SUV.
Poor SUV

What to tell the POLICE in the event of a shooting.
1. I WAS IN FEAR FOR MY LIFE.
2. HE/SHE SAID THAT THEY WERE GOING TO KILL ME.
3. I WILL NOT SAY ANYTHING ELSE UNTIL I SPEAK TO MY LAWYER.
Folks, THAT is a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT, DO NOT give them up.
Cops and Investigators start building a case against YOU the SECOND YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH!
A good SUV will do that you know.
