The National Zot Party
Manofinsufficientfaithtostoplightning.
Posted on 11/24/2004 10:20:42 AM PST by Manoffaith
You are looking at the beginning of this great country's, next great political party. We are a party concerned with the moral and ethical decline of the United States of America. Our mission will be to restore traditional American values, something that neither party is doing right now. Although members of the Republican Party have started our mission, other members of the party are holding back our movement with their lack of faith. We will usher in a golden era for America and it starts with you. It will be hard work but by 2008, a member of the National Faith Party will be in the White House. By the grace of our almighty savor, we will become an unstoppable force. So my fellow Christians, welcome, to our new base of operations.
Here is the address to our disscussion forum.

Well, good luck to you. However, my first bit of advice would be to shed that free hosting site and get your own web address.
You won't be taken the least bit seriously until you do.
My next advice is to put a link to your site in the posting. Since you're new here, you probably don't know that.
Finally, good luck. Third parties don't do so well in this country. 2008 may be a bit optomistic.

Is this part of the Democrats new strategy for returning to the whitehouse? Splitting the social conservatives away from the fiscal conservatives?

I assume you mean Savior, not taste (savor).
spellcheck is your friend...plus proofreading.
Before any 3rd party has a chance, one of the parties has to implode. The Dems seem to be on their way...but if the Repubs go pro-choice (if Arnold has his way) they'll find millions of Christians like myself, jump ship--and it will be the GOP's end.
I sincerely doubt though, that a fully religious party will ever suceed in America. Theocracy failed in Puritan Massachusetts 300 years ago...RIP.

MineralMan, I agree with what you have said. The Good Lord willing, we will keep strong conservative believers in the White House for years to come, they will just have to come from the Republican party.

Much as I respect your zeal and goals, I prefer the freedom of all to accept or reject God and to worship Him as they choose.

I prefer a government (and a political party) that is essentially secular, but which is informed by spiritual principles. To try to craft a political party solely around issues of faith is a recipe for disaster. But good luck in learning this for yourself.

Hey, just keep praying, guys. Leave the driving to us.

Alright, you got me, I am just messing around. I wanted to see how many republicans would actually think that was a good idea, not many I guess. Please, try and weed out all of the religious stuff from your party, it is scaring the crap out of me. I am not a democrat if that is what you are thinking and I am relieved that most of you seem to want politics and religion seperate. Please, for the love of god, stop talking about how god put Bush in the white house. Peace out.

To: soccer_linux_mozilla
This is scary stuff indeed. One quick way to destroy the U.S. is to convert public policy making into decisions made on religious tenents, advice and theology. Any single-directed majority given the authority to govern will inevitably oppress all minorities and the be source of civil strife. I hope everyone, whether in government or not, is free to believe, or not believe, and act according to lawful subjective motivations. But to place governmental policies is a position either subordinate to or driven by religion is the move the U.S. back to the Middle Ages with the stresses that existed at large in society and the resultant conflicts.
Moreover, even to most sincerely religious judges will, I hope, be repulsed at the idea of trashing the constitutional immunities and protections to do as this ill-advised, mis-guided poster suggests.

I am quite content to concentrate my energies on a secular party whose leaders and candidates are informed by religious principles and in whom there is some understanding of freemarket principles. A candidate whose religion informs his choices will not betray his constituents and will be principled in his decisions. The man who says that he leaves his religion in the church and does not let it guide his politics will betray those who voted for him and will not make principled decisions. He is unpredictible. For purposes of this discussion Socialism is a religion and like Islam is one I would NOT like to see as providing the principles by which someone in my party informs his actions.
