Hee hee. The only film that ever seemed to be showing. I don't recall ever seeing Maynard's parents, but I could be wrong on that one.

Argh. You're right.

I can barely remember watching the Dobie Gillis show. Remember Zelda, Maynard, Dobie of course,....but no Chatsworth.

I am a young thang, after all......:^)

And of course, Warren Beatty got his start on that CBS show.

Of course? I'm in my mid 40s, and I don't recall ever seeing that show. And yes, I grew up
inside a metropolitan area, and got channels from another "market" as well.

No problem. Your accuracy ratio is still much higher than mine!! Remember there was a brief period when Dobie and Maynard were in the Army? I don't think that lasted more than a few episodes.

Warren Beatty hit the jackpot with "Bonny and Clyde".

I dunno. I think he hit the jackpot with Annette Bening.

The novel DOBIE GILLIS was written by the very funny Max Shulman.

The show ran from the late 50s to the early 60s, so you are too young to remember the first run. It was on CBS, I am pretty sure. I'm singing the theme song, but it probably isn't doing you much good.

"Zelda Gilroy" turned out to be a lesbian Cali legislator.

Annette Benning? Yow-sah!

"Bonnie and Clyde" was his second film. His first was the very strange "Mickey One", directed by Arthur Penn, where he co-starred with Hurd Hatfield, who had been MGM's pretty boy back in the Forties.

Dobie! Wants a gal that's dreamy.
Dobie! Wants a gal to call his own.
Is she dark? Is she tall?

My memory is failing me here.

Is she any kind of dreamboat at all?

Hiya Pub -- here are the lyrics:

Oh Dobie, wants a girl who is dreamy,
Dobie, wants a girl who's creamy,
Dobie, wants a girl to call his own.
Is she blond, is she tall, is she dark, is she small, Is she any kinda dreamboat at all
No matter, he's hers and hers alone.
Cause Dobie only wants a gal to call his own.

You are more than welcome. We are really dating ourselves here. Wish I could watch an episode right now. Do you recall that Dwayne Hickman's brother Darryl was on the show "Love That Bob"? Probably shouldn't start a "Leave It To Beaver" thread right here, should we?
