At the dedication of the Clinton library last week in Little Rock, Karl Rove and President Bush received separate tours of the dramatic building, a glistening silver, suspended boxcar filled with light and with a panoramic view of the Arkansas river. Flung across the river stands an old railroad bridge - and to Clinton watchers, bridges represent "the bridge to the 21st century", the former president's re-election slogan in 1996...[snip]
...Then, when the presidents were announced, Bush tried to push his way past Clinton at the library door to be first in line, against the already accepted protocol for the event, as though the walk to the platform was a contest for alpha male...[snip]
...According to two eyewitnesses, Rove had shown keen interest in everything he saw, and asked questions, including about costs, obviously thinking about a future George W Bush library and legacy. "You're not such a scary guy," joked his guide. "Yes, I am," Rove replied. Walking away, he muttered deliberately and loudly: "I change constitutions, I put churches in schools ..." Thus he identified himself as more than the ruthless campaign tactician; he was also the invisible hand of power, pervasive and expansive, designing to alter the fundamental American compact...[snip]

But I think Clinton will try to do something international to bolster up his tarnished image. He already did. Doncha remember the CUBAN cigar?

Upon entering the tent, Bush, according to an eyewitness, told an aide: "One gulp and we're out of here." And if Bush had stuck around, Sid would be whining about how he wasn't really welcome there and was only trying to steal Clinton's spotlight.

I'd bet my house that's a lie.>>
I would take the bet. These people are so stupid, and take themselves so seriously, they don't even recognize when they are being mocked. Rove would have to add the phrase "and we roast babies in the White House basement and eat them" for these nimrods to realize they are the butt of a joke.

A grand entrance, but it's still bridge to nowhere!

The thing looks like a mobile home but, as always, Sid sounds like a schoolgirl with a crush on Billy. Your mouth drops open when you read this piece. I was still trying to find coherence when the piece ended...

Should we be talking about our betters this way? ;-)
To: Gunrunner2
If not made up most certainly sarcasm, given the "you're not so bad" comment.Of course. Rove was just having a bit of fun with the 'rats.

What do you expect from a member of the SDS? This egghead fibber was once and probably still is a memebr of the hate America gang. Students for a Democratic Society hung on to gain entry into the whitehouse on the coattails of Hillary R. Clinton.
To: an amused spectator
Must not be able to get attention in the USA. Sid's presence/conection with UK papers may explain the eurowacko reactions.
The Clinton library is supposed to represent a bridge, a bridge to no-where.
Convenient how the library omits Clinton's disbarment for perjury.

Yeah, but when was Sid ever respectful of the truth? You can't take his descriptions as true without corroboration.
To: Dont_Tread_On_Me_888
I was not happy with that speech he gave for Clintoon at the library dedication but this is funny-'a submarine could take this place out', 'one gulp and we're out of here'.
To: an amused spectator
Bush appeared distracted, and glanced repeatedly at his watch. When he stopped to gaze at the river, where secret service agents were stationed in boats, the guide said: "Usually, you might see some bass fishermen out there." Bush replied: "A submarine could take this place out." More fiction from Sid Vicious.

(And a "elite, well-educated, super-smart, talented, ultra-educated liberal writer and commentator" from the blue states liberal media missing the entire point of the sarcasm and humor!)

Sidney Blumenthal lied for a living in the Clinton white house. He told outright fictions to the press on the courthouse steps at the grand jury.
Whatever he says somebody said needs confirmed by a credible source.
