Israel's ambassador to France has criticized the French government for issuing a death certificate for deceased Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat stating his place of birth as Jerusalem.
"I cannot understand how the French government agreed to issue a death certificate based on false information," ambassador Nissim Zvili told a press conference in Montpellier, AFP reported.
Municipal officials at Clamart, the suburb of Paris where Arafat died on November 11, said they issued the document on the basis of a family record book itself issued by the French foreign ministry in 1996.
Arafat was born Mohammed Abdel-Rawf Arafat al-Qudwa al-Hussaini, on August 4, 1929.
The official version of his life history records he was born in Jerusalem. However numerous biographers agree that he was, in fact, born in Cairo, where his father, from Gaza, owned a business.
French officials, citing privacy laws, still refuse to reveal the precise cause of death or the nature of his condition, leading to rumors - strongly denied by Palestinian officials - of poisoning.
AFP reported Zvili as saying the affair was "very badly perceived in Israel", adding that those responsible for issuing the "false document" could be subject to a legal process.
"I don't understand how when Arafat arrived in France he had been born in Cairo and when he left France he had been born in Jerusalem," he said. He also dismissed speculation that Arafat had been poisoned.
"There was a poisoning, but it wasn't of Arafat, but of public opinion in France, in Arab countries and among the Palestinian people," he said.
Zvili was taking part in a round table discussion on Israel in Montpellier.
The French are doing everything they can to fan the flames of war in the Middle East.
Since his death and life were cloaked in lies, maybe he should be buried at the Clinton "Lie Bury" where all truth is laid to rest.

Claims that Arafat was related to the Jerusalem Husseini clan through his mother have been disputed by the Palestinian historian Said Aburish. In an unauthorized biography, Aburish claims that “The young Arafat sought to establish his Palestinian credentials and promote his eventual claim to leadership... [and] could not afford to admit any facts which might reduce his Palestinian identity. ...Arafat insistently perpetuated the legend that he had been born in Jerusalem and was related to the important Husseini clan of that city.”
Arafat’s childhood was divided between Cairo and Jerusalem, where he lived for four years with an uncle following the death of his mother when he was five. Arafat entered the University of King Faud I (later renamed Cairo University) in 1947 and studied engineering. It was during his college years that Arafat adopted the name Yasser, which means “easygoing” in Arabic.
During the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, Arafat left the university and, along with other Palestinians, sought to enter Palestine to fight for Palestinian independence. He was disarmed and turned back by Egyptian military forces that refused to allow the poorly trained partisans to enter the war zone. After returning to the university, Arafat joined the Muslim Brotherhood and served as president of the Union of Palestinian Students from 1952 to 1956. By 1956, Arafat graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and served as a second lieutenant in the Egyptian Army during the Suez Crisis.

This is such a big deal it is hard to put to words. The Muslims want control over Jerusalem. So much so, they invented the place Mohammed assended to heaven on his horse was from Jerusalem. David Ben-Gurion's famous statement in 1948: "The value of Jerusalem cannot be measured, weighed, or put into words. If the land has a soul, Jerusalem is that soul of the Land of Israel. The vow we made by the waters of Babylon obligates us today as it did in the past."

...And I doubt they really could know why, other than to remind us of that fictional story about Muhammed riding to heaven, which, like the entire Qur'an, is a cheap imitation and perversion of the real words of God.
