Well, just file O'Reilly in the same catagory as Dan Rather.

Birds of a feather flock together, Bill.

The O'Bloviator is quickly becoming just another media whore. I don't know what's driving these ridiculous ideas of his, but I've stopped watching him completely. He is not the O'Reilly he used to be, not by a long shot.

Rather probably do not concoct this fraud, and he deserves the benefit of the doubt, but he certainly defended it once it was exposed, and for that he got what was coming to him. Now why is the Bloviator not stating the obvious. Does someone have pictures of him or something?

I much rather see Brit Hume and the panel, Fox News contributors all.

What did O'Reilly used to say about Bush and Ashcroft's refusal to investigate Clinton? "The powerful protect the powerful."

You should know Bill. He is compromised because of his sexual perversion so he has to kiss the MSM's butt.

I believe Rather, along with Andy Rooney, Walter Cronkite and other guardsmen of the old CBS News, are liberal in their thinking. But holding a political point of view is the right of every American, and it does not entitle people to practice character assassination....

I agree with O'Reilly here that Rather's liberal political point of view did not entitle him to "practice character assassination" against President Bush. Oh WAIT!!! (Then I read the rest of the paragraph....) O'Reilly must have some skeletons in his own closet to be defending the indefensible this way. What a sorry disappointment O'Reilly turned out to be.

You can take the reporter out of CBS, but you can't take the CBS out of the reporter.

I disagree with the sentiment in the article, but I don't think it's awful of O'Rielly to play devils advocate here to advance the discussion. Columnists should be bold enough in writing articles to say something so new and different from their peers that they might be occasionally quite wrong.

Am I the only one who thinks O'Reilly is trying to worm his way into the mainstream media elite?

Apparently the need to move into the MSM ranks is almost narcotic for these guys. This is beyond the pale, but he's not alone. Even Rush does it, buddies up with Russert, etc. It's like they crave the validation of the MSM scum. For that matter, even Fox has done some shifting left; it's not enough to have great success; as long as the MSM is still snickering at them, they're constantly trying to angle in. Sad.

Bill O'Reilly is mad at US because HE failed to unseat Rush as the King of Talk Radio.

Fool that he is, he though Rush nwas another Larry King, ripe for dethroning.

Since h\Rush bitchslapped hip, Captain Felafel is making a LAME, TRANSPARENT attempt at staking out the middle ground in the vain hope that he can enegergize "moderates" in 2004 like Rush energized conservatives in 1994.

Sadly, the poor blind fool doesn't understand that moderates=liberals, and liberals hate anyone to the right of Che Guevera.

" but he is not a dishonest man."

BS...Thirty years ago Dan Rather lied his way into my father's company.

"Rather was found guilty without a fair hearing"

BOOHOO...Dan Rather made my father appear guilty on NATIONAL TELEVISON without a fair hearing. My father was never found guilty of anything in court.

For me, this won't be over until I personally urinate on Dan Rather's grave.
Sorry for the rant, but my blood is boiling.

"Dan Rather did not get what he deserved in this case"

YES you are correct Bill...What Rather actually deserved is an indictment on a charge of TREASON. And when found Guilty the MAXIMUM sentence imposed for his despictable crime.

O'Reilly has a phobia about 'attacks' and accusations these days. Gee, wonder why?

The charges against Rather were proven, wonder if the charges against Bill were too.

The Swift Boat vets did not lie. If O'Reilly weren't so busy on the phone and at dinner he could go read the documents himself like I did. Actually, they could have told worse things than they did.

Charges that he intentionally approved bogus documents that made President Bush [related, bio] look bad were leveled and widely believed.

Ahhh, they were widely believed because the forgery of the documents was so pathetically crude the crime was spotted within 4 hours of being made public.

At that point the "documents" became what is commonly referred to as "evidence."

Is it possible that O'Reilly harbors fantasies that he will be plucked from Fox to anchor CBS News in place of Rather? And so he's sucking up to the network? I mean, is it even possible that O'Reilly is so goofy that he would want to take over a sinking 'old media' barge after the captain already jumped overboard??

It's official: O'Reilly has become part of the Establishment. I've been tracking this for a while and have come to his defense when others have pointed it out. But this time, it's become painfully obvious to me. Let's face it: O'Reilly's sexual harassment scandal was, for the most part, bottled up by the mainstream press. And now he's returning the favor. It's unfortunate to watch but I guess when you get a seat at the table of power, there are some ground rules; especially the need to protect one another.
