The main reason I don't watch O'Reilly is that he is incapable of making reasonable conclusions from his premises. He will make outlandish conclusions from very quesionabe premises. I sometimes wonder what planet he's from.

Dan Rather was slimed. It was disgraceful.

He was slimed with his own slime. It was reckless, at best

Unfair freedom of speech did him in

It's called blowback. Sort of like throwing a grenade and getting hit in the ass with schrapnel. He was a trained professional and should have known better. His own freedom of speech backfired on him. No one else should be blamed

Conservatives love logic and reason, and arrogance destroys both.

(I still suspect someone has pictures :)

Methinks O'Really is still hurting from his own scandal and is allowing his rightous indignation to spill over into his politics. He's all emotional and Not thinking like a newsman would.

Dan Rather gave wings to a vicious slanderous lie, pure and simple. If he hadn't been called on his lying hit piece, John Kerry could well have become our president.

The stakes were high. Rather tried a crap-shoot. It failed. Now he has egg on his face - as well he should have.

O'Reilly, you are all wet!

O'Reilly paid off the woman, and now thinks it is over; that the skeletons are gone. Like Michael Jackson.

But if you are too careless, your skeletons end up in someone else's closet. I'm sure he thinks he has bought them all back. Never happens.

But he continues to give little clues, like the other day when he gave away a pair of one of his sponsor's pants.

He said they last a long time, through many washings so now he doesn't have to go through that routine with the lock and the 18 year old girl. He is so tall and portly he says he doesn't fit into that little changing room to well.

Oh and yea, it has been discussed here for some time now that he wants to get Rather's job.

How funny, wanting to get on a sled zooming down the mountain of irrelevance...

The Bloviator has opined so many ridiculous and outrageous positions in the last few months, than that of so many years prior, that nothing is out of the realm of possibility.

His opinions now are indistinguishable from that of a Liberal.

I am always amused when Leftists claim O'Reilly is a conservative, and things like this are evidence to all those not so blind.

Rather knew the story was fake and went with it. A mistake would entail that he didn't know the documents were fakes.

"No one in their right mind can say that Rather wasn't being dishonest."

Spot on. Rather has been pulling crap like this his whole career. It's just that this time the alternative media was too strong for him to get away with it.

Even back in the eighties he was making stuff up about the anti-Marcos "unrest," and lied his butt off about the terrorist bombing of Philippine politicians, blaming that on Marcos, too.

And there it is.
Maybe not a smoking gun. - That was the forgery itself, but certainly compelling evidence.

How could any intelligent, educated person who has been so heavily involved in the production of the news for over 30 years, maintain that he was *clueless* as to the difference between a 1970s typewriter page and a 2004 Word document?

As I said to one democrat who was maintaining its validity :
"Here, let me get your 8 year old to explain it to you."

I think Bill is letting his personal sex scandal get in the way of clear vision and better judgment. His "Wally George" like style is wearing thin and he is now trying to appease the left so he will remain popular.

Shame when a good man is lost in the wilderness. I hope he sees the light soon.

Gee, since you know someone for 20 years, this means they are incapable of lying. O'Relly logic. And I would sure like to know what stories the Swifties said were Not true....

Something has knocked the Irisman's fight out of him. Now he has that dear-in-the-headlights look about him. It's like he has the proverbial gun-to-his-head all the time. Have you noticed? It's the look of fear.

While some of the Vietnam vets had valid points, more than a few of the accusations against Kerry were simply untrue.

Empty accusation, proven vaccuous by Kerry's unwillingness to release his standard form 180...tsk tsk tsk Billy Boy. Kerry had the opportunity to roundly embarass Bush; Kerry's omission and verifiable lies (see Cambodia/Nixon), and the media's utter complicit silence, only vindicated and validated the Swifties.

You taking notes Bill?...Or is your mouth full?

"While some of the Vietnam vets had valid points, more than a few of the accusations against Kerry were simply untrue."

Too bad Bill doesn't tell us WHICH accusations were untrue..

Bill easily overlooks the fact that Kerry could NOT effectively DENY the charges - or release all his records, because the charges of Kerry's lies, betrayal and traitorous behavior are DOCUMENTED, FILMED and UNDENIABLE.

Bill continues to reveal himself as a certifiable clymer..

Umm...I was in the Philippines at the time.Don't know what Dan was saying on US TV, but there was plenty of anti-Marcos unrest. Sounds like Dishonest Dan may have called that one right.
