WASHINGTON -- Defeated Texas Congressman Martin Frost is among potential candidates for chairman of the Democratic National Committee who are telephoning members about the situation, a leading Democrat said Monday.

"The following candidates are making phone calls to DNC members -- Howard Dean, Donnie Fowler, Martin Frost and Leo Hindery," said Mark Brewer, party chairman in Michigan and president of the Association of State Democratic Chairs.

::sigh:: It's hard to imagine anyone being as good as Terry.

Well, for our side at any rate.

You know, truthfully, I don't know why nobody's mentioned Bill Clinton. Wouldn't he be perfect for the job, at least in terms of what they're looking for?

This is the first reasonable candidate that I have heard about. Somebody from middle America with a little common sense. Of course, that just proves the DNC won't choose him.

"Seriously..how can a losing candidate be a national spokesman"

The other leading contender is Howard Dean.

We would be happy if he left Texas, now that we've finally gotten rid of him in Congress. God bless Tom Delay!

Dean won't get it..and doesn't want it..what he wants, IMHO, is to be denied it..This is his first salvo for the 2008 nomination..A Hillary acolyte will get the DNC chair..the Clintons will make sure of it..then, after the 2006 midterm electins, when the Dems lose more House and Senate seats..Dean will start to scream that the Dem party, to win, has to dump the Clintons. He is the one Dem who understands that the Clintons have ruined the party..and he's NOT afraid to take them on..

Well, if Frost gets the job. I am confident that he will maintain the same level of integrity that we came to expect when Terry McAuliffe had the job.

Don't sell Martin Frost short. He also is very able. He is the type of guy the democrats can use right now. He is a liberal who can move to liberal.
That is more flexiblity than most dems have!

"Somebody from middle America with a little common sense."

Common sense? Martin Frost?

You ain't from Texas, is ya?

We-yell, maybe if ya put the emphasis on "a little" -- and even then it's a stretch.

I agree. Frost could be effective in this role. He's a chameleon, which is an effective attribute in this job. He's also a survivor (except this year, of course).

Frost lost because Tom Delay had a say in his longevity!
Otherwise, he might be Minority leader!
He came close last time.

The last person we need as DNC chair is Dean. He's a good organizer and can coordinate the loons better than Terry. He also has the support of the public employee unions, which makes him a strong leader.

Our best bet is Ickes. He's even more vile the Terry.

Exactly--he'd still be in office without redistricting.
