U.S. News: Hillary May Not Run
Newsmax ^ | 11-30-04 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 11/30/2004 5:37:36 AM PST by truthandlife

Some Hillary supporters say the former first lady may not make a bid for the White House after all.

Though initial polls show Sen. Clinton as the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination in 2008, U.S. News & World Report says Hillary may not seek the job.

Paul Bedard's "Washington Whispers" column in the latest edition of U.S. news reports that ". . . some friends and allies advise against placing bets that the former first lady will be the nation's 44th president."

Citing these close friends to Hillary, the magazine says Hillary has made no commitment to running, and some say she is not in the race at all.

"She's not running," one supporter told Bedard.

Bedard writes: "The thinking in the 'don't run' campaign is that Clinton is well aware of the partisan feelings she generates. 'People love her or they hate her,' says an adviser. 'There's very little gray area to gain voters in.'"

Others say that Hillary's campaign would quickly get mired in the same scandals that rocked her husband's administration.

How long can Hillary hold out in hiding her intentions?

Not long.

Political pundits say that with the presidential campaign now on a full four year cycle, Democratic candidates will be locking up big money supporters and Democratic operatives in key primary states.

If a candidate doesn't make clear their intentions early, they risk losing the party's movers and shakers to early runners.

Dick Morris believes Hillary is indeed running. He notes that the recent inauguration of the Clinton library was the soft kick off her national campaign. He oberved that though the library was about her husband's legacy, Hillary conducted most of the major media interviews.

Smokescreen!

Not necessarily - she may very well be more gutless than she is ambitious. Also, she may realize that she's becoming increasingly unelectable at the national level, and probably ought to stick to her comfy blue state post.

Looks like Hillary's gonna be mighty busy with her Extreme Makeover. The question is---in light of the resounding 2004 Values Voters Victories---how "conservative" will Hillary get? After she opens a charge at Wal-Mart, enrolls in divinity school, and gets a lifetime membership in the John Birch Society, she'll need to get a shopper's card at Sam's Club, and schedule daily morning prayer services in her Senate office, just to make sure she covers all bases.

Maybe Hillary will campaign for 2008 wearing the official
DNC apron, and give Easy-Bake oven demonstrations.

(Maybe one of our cleverest FReepers will photoshop Hillary's face on the cookie baker.)

Hillary is anything but gutless, she's the most arrogant power crazed woman since Evita Perrone. Hillary simply realized that four years was too long to run a Presidential campaign, so she has opted for the far less controversial senatorial campaign that she will once again run on a national level, claiming to be raising money and working to help the Democrats take back the Senate.

There is no way this former co-president is not running.

Just as she was co-president, never accountable for HER decisions, is the same manner in which she will run for president.

The 'stealth' candidate, who is too important to trudge through the frozen fields of Iowa and New Hampshire for a third time, awaits that prime opportunity to strike. She is like a snake, hissing her poison upon the masses, constricting her fellow liberals, shedding her skin transforming herself into a shining new slithering serpent.

No she is not the devil but she sure has perfected his method of operation.

I agree she will run but I could see a scenario where if she did not think she could win she would hold back. A humiliating loss would end the Clintons' stranglehold on the Democratic party. Not running could leave them in ultimate power as puppet masters but they would have to keep their need for public attention in check (which is not very likely at all)

Something tells me that they have seen something in the internal polling statistics that we haven't heard yet. In all liklihood, she is just not polling well anywhere except for a few blue states. Her advisors (read: Bill) may see that she would likely lose in a Presidential race, and would be more effective as the "chief obstructionist" in the Senate. Of course, if Rudy Giuliani or some other liberal Republican runs against her for Senate in 2006, she is just as likely to lose that seat.

She can run but she won't win.

America is not yet ready for a female president. Nor for a black president.

The day will come when it won't matter wether they're male or female, black or white.

But not yet.

This may very well be true. After all, she is no risk-taker: she had her positive internal polls before she committed to run for the Senate in NY. She saw what happened to Ketchup Boy and I'm sure she has early national polling data on her chances. Evil though she is, she's not stupid. There's not one red state she can win, and she even might give a blue state or two over to the pubbies if they ran a strong candidate.

Lookit: 1) she's found a nice, soft spot in the Senate where she has a chance to grow into a stateswoman-kind of position for the dems; 2) she does not have to face a grueling campaign (first against other demonrats which could be brutal and then against a pubbie); and 3) just mebbe--deep down inside--she really wants to deny that old horn dawg she's hitched to another chance to walk around 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in his boxers.

Naturally, she's going to say she isn't running....not until AFTER her 2006 Senate election. She has to re-win that or she loses her political platform.

Then, about a year into that term, she will be changing her mind...to save her Party....to save America from the mean ole Republicans....to save the World.....to save the Universe and beyond.....

"Others say that Hillary's campaign would quickly get mired in the same scandals that rocked her husband's administration."

Uh-huh "others" say. And the rest say Hiltlery's got her OWN scandals to worry about.

I really, REALLY, want to hear her explain her defense work for the murderous Black Panther thugs. That'll go over real good in all the red counties that stretch from sea to shining sea.

Then there's that tiny matter of her College thesis wherein she praises Saul Alinsky and communism (allegedly).

Remember that Hillary won't dare stand up and wave at a Yankee game, where the 90% male audience would boo her unmercifully. This in the heart of the bluest city in a very blue state.

The politician with THE highest negatives among white males is not the solution for the Democrats nationally. I'd love to see her run.

Also, we must all work diligently in the coming months to convince “progressives” that the Democratic Party has let them down. They must abandon the party. Their only recourse is to join and work for the Green Party moving forward. I may even register as a Green Party member to swell their voter registration rolls. Divide and conquer.

Begin with putting all known “progressives” in your sphere of influence on the Green Party mail list from their website. Great fun. Start inundating them with information now.

You're right about that. Once again a 'leading' Democrat demonstrates she cannot be elected by being authentic. If Hillary runs representing what she **is** as opposed to what she wants us to believe, then she will be soundly defeated. This poppycock about being an evangelical is SO transparently false as to be comical.
